Scafe hurt?????

Postby BC98to04 on Wed Oct 07, 2009 9:10 am

Check out the two deep. Scafe isn't even listed and Albright is backing up Newman. Dan Williams is listed as a back up DE. Defense could be in for a long long day against the run.

What happened to Scafe?

Scafe was injured the week of the Clemson game, maybe aggravated?

Albright left the game on crutches and is walking around campus without them.

Also, Williams over Holloway? Guess the coaches feel Max's preseason hasn't transferred into play on the field? Looks like Rollins may be out as well.

Realize this thing isn't set in stone, but didn't realize there was any problem with Scafe.

Holloway was the best DE on the field this past weekend. He certainly earned time over that fucking stiff Ramella.

Good news on Albright at least, changed the title of the post as everyone knew Albright was hurt, got a little jumpy there when I saw Scafe wasn't listed, too much coffee.

Really interested on the Williams front though.

Given our sudden apparent depth at linebacker, perhaps Spaz and McGovern are thinking a little 3-4?? Without Scafe, doesn't seem like we have the NT to pull that off though.

Fox is also listed back on D. Mulrooney cracked the 2-deep for the first time this year too. The Holloway thing is weird. He played well when he was on the field. The depth at LB is impressive when you consider that Clancy is not on the two deep, Thompson and Herzy are out and WIlliams is now on the Dline.

Dan Williams was playing DE in the spring. They moved him back to LB after Herzy's diagnosis. We should be very deep at LB next season; DLine, not so much.

I was hoping Rollins would be back. He is very good against the run.

New here, but apparently the 3-4 is a bit of a running joke. Given that we have KPL coming in, a young LB core, and Lawrence, Sinkovic, others? red shirting, and seem to be lacking in DL recruits, is it that ridiculous for next year? Admittedly never coached or anything, so would be interested as to why it wouldn't work if people have thoughts.

Obviously it is a joke around here but I do believe it is one of the new fads that will come along in college. Don't see it too many times as a base set for defenses but as the spread rules, probably will be better to get OLBs who can run sideline to sideline.

HJS will tell you a) you can't switch back and forth between the two Ds and b) the 3-4 doesn't work in college - it is designed to stop the West Coast offense, and would get obliterated by a power run team or a spread team. And he is right.

Perhaps the staff is trying to send a message to some players? Or they could just be banged up.

Okoroha is no longer listed as a back safety.

Scafe is not listed in the two deep.

Holloway is no longer listed as a back up DE either.

Also, it seems official that Okpara is no longer with the BC football team. This definitely opens the door for another CB recruit to sign with BC this year.

If these changes are a product of Spaz's comment about knowing the problem with the D and fixing it, that sucks.
