They haven't announced all of their cuts today. So far, it's been Hoyer, Koppen, Ihedigbo, and Branch (the big stunner).

I'm more surprised they cut Hoyer.

I'm shocked they cut Gaffney and Stallworth, but now Branch too? Is Ebert making that big a splash?

My buddy thinks the Jets will try to sign Branch if they Pats don't bring him back at a reduced salary. He wouldn't sign with the Jets, would he?

The Patriots are signing Tebow and he is expected to show up for tomorrow's minicamp.

So when do he and Gronk get a reality show?

Utterly meaningless signing. If he's on the team Labor Day, he's playing TE.

Francesa said Belichick is doing this as a favor to Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow to give Tebow credibility as a professional football player. It was a great rant from the pope.

If Tebow sticks around long enough to outlast the typical Tebow-obsessed news cycle stories, maybe we'll at least get some more BC coverage during 10-2 season out of the Tebow-Addazio connection. Best case scenario: Tebow introduces Gronk to Christ, says nice things in the local press about Addazio, thanks BB for the opportunity and quietly goes about his way after he's cut.

Since there is a mini trend in the league to utilize mobile qb's in a read offense, I'm surmising Bill simply wants him running the opposing offense in practice to give the D a taste of that style of offense in weeks leading up to those matchups. If it is otherwise, then it's simply fucking stupid, and Tebow shouldn't last long.

It's a no risk move. He's taking Mike Kafka's roster spot and there is little to no chance he has guaranteed money. Unless you really care about the 90th man, this is much ado about nothing.

Maybe BB just wants him to distract the media's attention from the rest of the team? I am not a Tebow hater.

Impossible.

It is raining up here so maybe he can run shirtless at camp and sportscenter can have it's open for the next 2 weeks

I'd also be shocked if Tebow didn't come to campus over the summer.

Good move with little downside. If he doesn't work out, just cut him. I bet he becomes a great H back, rushes for 300 yards, catches 50 passes, and throws for 2 TDs on a roll out.

wow. quoted for posterity

i agree with whoever said they were bringing him in to be the practice squad QB.

also, if this move was going to cost the patriots a nickel before week 1 game checks go out, there's no way they would have done it.
