Attendance is down everywhere,

Attendance numbers were down across the board in college football in 2017 — nearly three percent across the board. The FBS saw its largest year-over-year drop in 35 years, where even the SEC was down by a greater margin than the national average, a 3.14 percent fall.

But that’s not all. The attendance numbers are actually worse than originally reported. http://footballscoop.com/news/college-f ... rse-think/

How were the beer and wine lines on Saturday? Any improvement from last year?

yes the lines looked better, by my unscientific eye i think more stations are selling.

getting on campus is still a complete disaster even with only 31k or whatever it was. jarmond needs to figure that out.

2 hours before was easy down on Lower Brighton. BC can easily fix the getting on campus issue

They were selling at existing concession stands, including underneath the upper deck. Last year, they were selling beer in separate and distinct spots in the Conte concourse. This process is a bit better as it should not block the pathway and the lines did seem better. But the attendance was light.

Did you look at the east side lower bowl when UMass scored? There were lots of people all along the UMass sideline cheering, not just in the visitor's section.

I was on the 50 behind the UMass bench. There were like 25 UMass fans.

Can confirm this. There were barely any UMass fans at the game. I'm sure they were all understandably spent after the huge win over the Dukes or maybe they're all saving up for the big road trip to Statesboro this week.

New Tailgating Hours. Finally something reasonable.

Boston College will have new tailgating hours for all home football games, the athletic department announced Tuesday.

Fans will now be permitted to tailgate four hours prior to all weekend home football games. Additionally, for all games starting at 3 PM or earlier, fans will be permitted to tailgate for one hour following the conclusion of the game. Weekday games will remain three hours prior to kickoff, with no post game tailgating.

“We are always looking to improve and enhance our gameday environment for our loyal fans,” said Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond. “We heard how important it was from our fans, and specifically from our fan council, on the ability to extend tailgating hours prior to the game.”

BC also announced a new clear bag policy for games. Fans will be permitted to bring in a one-gallon sized clear plastic zip bag, a clear plastic bag that does not exceed 12”x12”x6” or a small clutch bag, wristlet or handheld wallet. This policy follows similar policies in the NFL and in the ACC.

agreed, there is clearly demand for it. for the clemson game with 4 hours pregame there was still a back up for miles along comm ave. gene would've been proud with the stands filled a kickoff as well

good job marty j

If I’m reading that right it means the days of the 2 hour post game tailgate are no more.

huh? we haven't had that in about 15 years. what it does say is that pregame tailgating has been increased to 4 hours for all weekend games plus 1 hour postgame tailgating is allowed so.long as they are pre 3:30 games.

Was there a doubt that one of the six posters on this website would find something in this to bitch about?

You're mistaken. As recently as last year any game that started at noon or 1 pm had 2 hours of post-game tailgating. Don't know where you've been for the last 15 years.

For the record, I think this is overall a good move. I'd rather have the extra time before the game.

Here's the policy from 2015. Not sure about the last couple of years, but I don't recall 2 hour post-game tailgating.

TAILGATING POLICY
Tailgating is only allowed in designated Flynn Fund parking lots.
Tailgating is prohibited in front of the Merkert Chemistry Building.
Tailgating is NOT permitted while games are in progress. Boston College Police Department will make affirmative efforts to end tailgating 30 minutes prior to kickoff and to clear all guests from parking lots by kickoff.
Pregame: All parking lots open 4 hours prior to kick-off.
Postgame: For games starting before 4 p.m., postgame tailgating may last up to one hour. For games beginning after 4 p.m., postgame tailgating is NOT allowed.

The police have gotten so strict about enforcing the postgame tailgating limits that it isn't worth the effort. I could care less about it.
