The kid deserves a chance at an education and he wasn't going to see the field much this year (and maybe next). Just because teh internets experts at Rivals liked how he looked without his shirt doesn't mean he was going to be a player.
If you look at the wash out rate for our four stars, this is one of the better endings.
I don't think anyone was complaining
I wasn't saying they were. TW's
made me just concur that this is not bad thing.
And this is why Boston College is, well, Boston College. You people
herald a choice like this as if it's sensible, no matter the cost to the football program. You forget the mantra: Let's build a university of which our football team can be proud.
Contrast with a University community that has its eye on the ball, on what matters. Look at what's happened since Bobby Bowden let Samari Rolle pursue a
Rhodes Scholarship, and let his starting QB began graduate studies as a
redshirt sophomore. Since those disastrous choices, FSU has lost its way. They've fallen short not just on the field, but more importantly, in recruiting rankings and in preseason polls where the foundation is built. Consequently, teams like BC have risen, and the rest of us have suffered as a result.
But
unlike BC, people at FSU are doing something about it. Trustees are calling for Bowden's dismissal in the press. Powers at FSU are saying "no more" to professors who enforce cheating, "j'accuse" to NCAA busybodies. The modifier used to describe Bowden's departure is "when", not "if". Resources are being generated to put FSU back onto its rightful track. A track that leads to success where it matters.
So that when an 60-year-old ex-Nole back on his career as a shoe salesman, he can smile and know that yes, that General Studies degree was well, well worth it as I celebrated victory in the Chick-fil-a Bowl.
