2? for those that watched on TV

Postby DomingoOrtiz on Sun Oct 04, 2009 8:19 am

1. The 3rd & short QB sneek in the 4th; it looked like Shinsjie made it. Bad spot?

2. What happened on Jet Smith's fumble?

1 - he totally made it. the announcing crew said so and was flabbergasted when it was not re-spotted after the replay. they mentioned the missed call several times afterwards.

2- jeff smith is not a football player. he dropped the ball. it fell under his leg and he made no move to recover it. no other BC player saw what happened. jeff smith is a track runner.
we are all whalepants now

yes, very bad spot. He was probably a full yard beyond where he needed to be. even worse was that they reviewed it and still gave him the bad spot. although the refs did make up for it with a phantom PI call against FSU right before Montel's touchdown.

what do you mean "what happened?" he fumbled. He was hit as his was going down and when he was hit, the ball came loose.

I didn't see the ball come out from my angle and drunken state. The PI call was a joke.

terrible spot
no one saw the ball come out other than a couple of players everybody was walking off the field. Smith kinda fell on it and covered it with his legs.
We need to do something about field position i heard the crappy kickoffs were by design but it seems like we do this every week. I dont know that stats but we have had very few long drives against our d this year most of the times we score on were when we give the ball on the 40 or better.

If Larmond doesn't trip, that was a TD. I didn't think the inadvertent trip was PI, but that was catchable. Everyone thought he wouldn't get to the bomb that Tuggle threw a few weeks back, either.

People who think that ball was not catchable are nuts. The PI certainly is up for debate but his being able to get to it not so much. :ace

Dallas Jesuit has a kicker who is rated 6th in the nation. He is only a junior, but BC should investigate this kid and decide if they want to pursue him before he gets early offers from other programs. Watched him kick the ball out of the end zone Friday night,

Just would like to point out, again, that Quigley was kicking short on purpose. He has more than enough leg to kick deep. They just didn't want Easterling to hurt them, and he didn't. Prior to going to prevent, the short kickoffs were brilliant. After prevent, it allowed FSU to score faster. My solution - don't play prevent - has nothing to do with the kicker.

Isn't there a freshman kicker who's redshirting this year?

Did anyone get the feeling that BC was gonna blow it last night? I didn't get to see the second half...
