Thanks for the pics Campy, brings back great memories. That Elias tackle seems like it happened yesterday...

They should have incorporated the old scoreboard into the rebuilt Alumni to give the place a sense of history.

There are other people in the picture? I only noticed the Farah Faucett lookalike from an era when BC evidently had smoking hot cheerleaders.

The Golden Girl was on a full scholarship for twirling.

First home game she dropped the baton twice on her big finishes.

Huge laughter, since obviously some girls in stands were twirlers and knew.

As Camper said, girls guarded the gold back then like Fort Knox was closed.

I also twirled a baton and had nice legs, but I was never asked.....

The cheerleaders -

Wasn't the head cheerleader in '74 some guy (not too skinny either) who spent most of the game taking to the crowd through a microphone? I also remember he would act like he was going to catapault on a trampoline over the other cheerleaders who stacked themselves in a pyramid only the pyramid would collapse at the last second.

So the onlookers who were not twirlers had no clue that dropping it wasn't part of the routine? Just bustin' ya balls. Gotta love the old guys reliving the glory days...I'll be there soon enough!

Great pics Campy. I love seeing old pics of BC vs. Clemson. I know it isn't quite UM- tOSU or Alabama- Auburn, but BC- Clemson does have a long history.

BC fans have a long history of tailgates. They will come in the second quarter once the band warms up.

They used to let fans leave at halftime to "freshenup" and come back in. I think they put a stop to that in the late 80s?

And Don Macek, member BC HOF and SD Chargers HOF. "missed only 8 starts in 163 career games, spent 14 seasons with the Chargers."

I also believe that 75 to the left is Tom Lynch: "National Football League, playing eight seasons, and was an All-AFC selection in his second year of professional football."

If not that game Jim Rourke (NFL six seasons) would join that line shortly.

Keith Barnette was great but boy did he have a line; beginnings of OL University. I think McNally was the line coach then.

campion {l Wrote}:Playing not to be embarrased. BC vs Notre Dame 1975. Mike Kruczek was one of the 2-3 top rated passers in the US, but Yukica had him hand off all game to kill the clock and keep it close. QB Kruczek, RB Glen Capriola.

That ND game ticket celebrated 100 years of football and was at Foxboro. I think it was 1976??? You may be right and the whole game ND had one on one and our WR's blew by them and Yukica shoulda been sliced and fed to the dogs.

BC has had some horrible head Coaches and I mean stupid and horrible.

Coughlin and Jags.

Sad.

1975, I was a senior in HS, went to see it.

Yukica may have had his flaws, but he was an OK recruiter for the time and kept BC football relevant at a time when the other Jesuit & Catholic Universities were dropping it or downgrading it. That Monday night tilt showed that revenue could be made playing the game at a high level. Chlebek was a mistake, but Yukica set the table for the growth of the program.

Rourke graduated from BCH in 75. He was a freshman in the fall of 1975, got progressively more playing time. Started seasons 76, 77, 78 graduated in 79.

Monday, September 15, 1975. It was on ABC with the Monday Night Football crew-- Howard Cosell, Dandy Don Meredith and Frank Gifford.

I was gonna data warehouse it but I figured I would let you get the big :kudos.

I remember I blew off a teamster double time and triple time Sundady night weekend--- for a weekend off during my first corporate job--- to go with my Garden City GF a Junior, and her parents to Foxboro.

I can't remember but ND had some fat pig DL that Buffalo drafted Pod-something and he was a slow flop. I will let you test your memory banks before I goog.
