Pass rush

Postby EagleNYC on Sun Sep 27, 2009 11:41 am

Is there a solution to this horrific weakness? We don't have a single player that consistently puts pressure on the QB, or even draws a double-team. I hope Quinn is working out as I type this. This is a more problematic part of our defense- the blitz isn't called frequently enough.

I really think it is a coaching problem for the most part. The D-line has the strength and the talent.

Blitz, Blitz, Blitz--from the corners, the middle, delayed blitzes, safety blitzes. Pull out all the stops.

Not so sure I agree with that. BC hasn't had a D-lineman with closing speed since Kiwi graduated.

BC is starting two slow Division II DEs with terrible technique and stupid personal foul habits. Holloway and Scaife are the only two guys on the DL capable of generating any pass rush at all.

I can only see the games on this crap 360 feed. Is Ramella still up to his old trick of poor play and stupid penalties in critical situations?

Someone was saying earlier this year that BC would have 10 more sacks than last year. That statement looks pretty dumb now. Raji isn't walking through that door, Akins isn't walking through that door and Kiwi certainly isn't walking through that door. Mixing in some well timed and well schemed blitzes is probably the best BC can do this year. Fortunately, Skinner is the best QB BC will see this year except maybe the kid from Central Michigan.

Come on. You can blame certain things on the coaching staff, but the D line's ability to generate pressure is not one of them. Look at last year when it took 3 guys to block Raji and Brace, the D-ends still couldn't genereate pressure.

As someone who watches from a thousand miles away, I didn't realize we were that crappy talent wise at the D-line spots. Depressing.

I say we rush 1 and drop back into a 2-3-2-3 zone and call it the Skinner Double.

We can also switch up and go 3-2-3-2.

That will make Bowden's go daggummit...I knew that I-tal had something up his sleeve. Thye are all sneaky people.

Fla St., NC St., ND and Central Michigan are all games in jeopardy simply because there is no effective pass rush. These are all QB's that could dissect the defense. Ponder is probably the weakest of the 4, but Saturday will be a test as to whether any adjustments have been implemented.
