Especially... a Miami team who just had their season cancelled during the week as a move to prevent greater sanctions. Those kids were just playing for pride... not typically a strong point at the U.

This Miami team also provided Maryland with its LONE 1-A win this season. That's even more damning than the USF loss.

I left this board for several months because the tone

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
of the discussion and the shrill calls for everyones head was annoying. I see that my return was premature. The insight and content has diminished substantially so I'm done until August.

Slam all you want but most of the supposed fans here need to get a life. Bc is no factory and folks on this board often have out of control expectations. We will never ever ever ever play in a BCS bowl. ever. Sorry. not an apologist a realist. I am a BC fan not because of BCS status but because I genuinely like the school I went to. I hate a 4-8 season. Let's see how next year goes.

I just know I won't be lurking on this board until the summer when I hope people have gotten a grip.

I really have a hard time believing I share the same degree with those idiots.

Never go to a BCS bowl? Not while these idiots are heading our football program.

Graciousness apparently is a lost art,at least on this board .Mike Dawson is leaving BC after doing his best to improve the players under his charge for three years under what had to be trying circumstances. He deserves our thanks. For those incapable of commmon courtesy, silence will do. The uncontrollable urge of some posters to criticize everyone and everything involved with the BC program is getting old. Gratuitously insulting a departing coach and ,perhaps, his wife or relative, to gain a few cheap points with other disgruntled posters shows how low this board has sunk.

The right recruiting group could have cleaned up the year we had Matt Ryan and were ranked as high as #2.

Unfortuantely we had Jags as head recruiter at the time and his recruiting shortfalls ended up screwing us down the line.

Someone needs to remind the idiots at EA that BC retained the recruting coordinator from the Jags era.

Hey All,

I work for a software marketing company based in Silicon Valley and have begun speaking with BC's marketing department regarding their social media presence on Facebook. I've been a member of this board since I was a frosh at BC years ago and am keenly aware of BC's struggles with marketing themselves and selling tickets. I have spoken with the administrators of the main university page as well as the athletics page about their ongoing efforts and wanted to survey the members of this board as there is not a more knowledgeable and caring group of BC supporters than within EagleAction. Firstly, if you are on Facebook and have not 'liked' the BC pages I recommend you do so. Second, if you have a minute or two please provide me with your own personal experiences and impressions of BC's Facebook pages. What do you like about the pages? What don't you like? What would you like to see BC do more of in social media? Feel free to post within this thread, or, if you want to keep your response more confidential feel free to shoot me an email at HeckelJBC@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing all your thoughts!

I don't get companies using social media. The whole social media movement seems to be nothing but avenues in which famous people can let the world know how truly stupid they are when someone isn't editing their thoughts. Things like facebook seem nothing more than ways for people to stay in touch without having to communicate with each other... and, of course, providing wonderfully sophisticated stalking tools.

Unless a BC social media outlet is going allow real uncensored reactions like updating BC Football Status to "Waiting for Coach Flip to Retire" or have GDF's twitter account broadcast thoughts like "How do I get paid this much to be this bad?"... there will forever be zero value in it.

An alternative perspective
What if GDF thought our B-Ball and Football programs had recruited S-As that were not representative of BC's internal, confidential expectations (as determined by GDF), at the end of Skinner's and througout Jags tenure? (The reasons could have been character or academically based). What if, because of this assessment, the directive to the coaches was to clean house and tighten the reins? Could that explain the heavy exodus of our "seasoned" players during Spaz's and at the start of Donahue's program? Might that explain why Spaz and GDF have been patiently dealt with by the insitution and Spaz still enjoys GDF's support?

This seems to be a reasonable interpretation of the last 2-3 years to me. (Certainly no one is going to come out and confirm this publicly).

I think the house has been cleaned and both the basketball and football programs have been restocked with a talented group of young S-As. Be patient, things are starting to look up. (That all being said, I can not be an Spaz apologist for the coaching carousel or poor game management).

Who are these people that that seems like a "reasonable interpretation". At least call it what it is, a rationalization that took 2 years for a Spaz ball-washer to forge. While there might be a chance that something like this would happen in some bizarro college football dimension, it offends me that someone would suggest this is a very real and likely possibility after this asinine idea congeals in their head during a robo-trip. There are far too many worthless human beings on this earth and I welcome the next epidemic with open arms.

What's bothersome about that latest rationalization is that people cannot follow the simple logic that undermines the whole theory. "Jags and his staff weren't recruiting quality kids so he had to go, BUT we will keep his recruiting coordinator and most of the staff and suddenly expect them to recruit good kids."

This has been pointed out but the standard response (strongly led by MF) has been the the HC dictates the whole strategy and that is has changed considerably under spaz. I personally find that ridiculous but TE what youll hear.

And that strategy is to target recruits that no other FBS program wants because higher rated players are all lazy primadonnas. :dildodog

Is ths Board helping the team at all?
Definitely not!!! If I was the parent of a potential scholar athlete and I read some of the comments on this Board, I would probably discourage my son from even thinking about BC. Yet, we are supposed to be rooting for the school and hoping for better things from the team.
Could you please get off the continuing attacks on Spaz, and Gene, and even Father Leahy. You have basically cleaned up the language problem, and now could you clear up these continuing diversive attacks. Thanks.

This is like the Obama administration's "New Normal"

Just convince everyone to lower the bar...

We were in back to back ACCCG's right? win and a BCS bid?

We were also Diamond Ferry'ed away from winning the OBE title before leaving for the ACC, would have been an orange bowl bid...

So to say it is an impossibility sounds absurd. Al Skinner had a final four quality team that was a Craig Smith wrist and hair away from getting it done...

Didn't Antonio Garay win a HW wrestling national championship after Title IX stripped away the entire program?

With the current adminstration, yes, I'd agree its patently impossible for that kind of success...

Seeing as how they can blame players for the coaching staff's mistakes, I think negative posts about the players are encouraged over there. And of course once a player is gone early for whatever reason it's customary to declare that he was not a "BC guy".
