It isn't one man against another . It is 11 against 11. I' ll take George craan, Tim joy and Steven danials over Maurice Hurst anyday. Would I like to have to have MHjr? Sure , who wouldn't but I am happy that we have players who want to be here and worked their butts off to get here. Am I worried about the future of our program ? Yes. Am I going to root my butt off for the kids who want to be here , yes!!!! I will also say a few Hail Marys along the way.

Gene and the Interview - my Thoughts Reply
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gene did not meet with Mike because he knew that many of the questions asked would originate with disgruntled members of this Board. He did not wish to be greeted with possible vulgarities, mispelled words, condemnation of certain individuals etc. etc. etc. and I am with him 100 per cent.
I believe that he expects a much improved team this year and did not want to explain his reasoning. However, I would have enjoyed hearing it.
Trying to justify keeping Spaz was one activity in which he did not want to participate either, and probably answering other questions or criticism by so-called experts on Steve Donahue and the basketball program seemed possible as well. He was just not interested in going that route.
I hope that those who have canceled tickets, donations to the Flynn Fund, etc. find a more useful outlet for their finances, but for some reason, I don't believe the school will feel a great loss. There are more successful donors giving slightly larger funds to both the Athletic Department and to the School.
However, I do hope that while listening to or watching the games at home or in some liquid establishment, they will be at least rooting for the team.
AND ONE SORE POINT - I do believe that any potential recruit will read all that he can about the School and the entire Athletic progam. But frankly, some of the written garbage, the lousy language, the waiting for the day etc. has probably discouraged some from attending the School. We will never know how many "Stars" did not attend because of the Junk and No Class stuff written by some members of this Board, but I believe that some have.
Conclusion - With the season starting on Sept. 1st, would it be possible for the members of this Board to cease their criticism of Gene, Spaz, and even Father Leahy and reasume at that time if justified, but cleaned up big time? There is a fine group of young men playing football for our school. They really do need all the support we can give them. Such a progam may be a start.

Part of it could be that, due to focusing on different areas and perhaps different kinds of kids in general, last year was just sort of a correction in moving between the Jags and Spaz regimes. Also, if there was a lack of enthusiasm towards recruiting during Jags' last year it could have had an even bigger impact on kids who were freshmen and sophs that year than kids who were juniors and seniors.
So...in other words...they switch from Jags to Spaz, Spaz does a decent job finishing up the 2009 class, does a great job on the 2010 class because they had been on those kids to a certain degree at one point, but the 2011 and 2012 classes are lacking because they just didn't make the connections with those kids early enough in the process. Maybe Spaz knew this would be the case and targeted 2013 as his breakthrough class (not saying it's going to happen, just saying that that was his goal). I mean, the offer lists back this up, in a way. They have early offers to way more kids than in the past and these were kids that would be right at the beginning of the recruiting process during Spaz' first full year.
I just remember, during the hiring process, Farrell insinuating that Spaz was the best recruiter out of the three guys they were considering. He said this before they made the hire, so there was no sort of agenda at play when he said it either.
I hope this is a sign that he's turning things around. Certainly the assistant coach hires have already helped in a big way.

that whole thread keeps going like that.

I have ZERO interest in paying for a site where anonymous moderators delete random posts for no reason without warning or citing the TOS.
Pathetic and cowardly. "

I agree this site sucks massively in terms of - well, everything. Easily the worst rivals site, and that also puts it behind all Scout sites.
Shitty graphics, no content, no access or coverage of anything...
EaglegradCC wrote:I don't dispute their right - in fact, I absolutely agree they have the right. This site is a private entity - and as such they can do what they want. I simply dispute the fact that they have even one axon of one neuron in their vacuous headspace.
It's also worth nothing that it's also a business venture, and chasing away a paying customer who's very likely to be here forever sans this complete idiocy isn't very smart - especially given that there are only a small handfull of frequent posters left - and most of those have seen a dramatically decreased interest in the site and the program.
When people post less, people read less. When they read less they click left. When they click less they cancel - and so do the chintzy advertisers.
EaglegradCC wrote:I asked if Rowland or Myles lied publicly. One did. Not sure who.
EaglegradCC wrote:@Hoof: I re-posted a more harshly worded and longer version of if to replace the more tame deleted version.
@D Able: I don't know what happened. I know one of them lied.
This is what Rowland posted:
""I've made my decision and it's going to be Boston College," Willis toldEagleAction.com on Thursday. "Today is my day of letting all the schools know. I actually talked to Central Florida last night. Boston College is the school for me."
There is no ambiguity there. Either Myles said those quoted words or he didn't. If he did, he is a bold faced liar because he said the exact opposite a few hours after.
If Myles never said those quoted words then Rowland should be banned and fired for being a bold faced liar.
I suspect that Myles is the liar, because he's already lied to UCF and I'm not aware of an instance of Rowland doing so and I've observed that he's been reliable and cautious. But Rowland, if you're the one that deleted that post admit it - So I can say EFF you, brother.
@Backer: I didn't lie. I said I'd be leaving for a specific reason, and then that reason became null. I didn't say I wanted to leave, just that it was being necessitated. In fact, I said it sucked. It wasn't an "I'm taking my ball and going home" post.
Rowland wrote:EagleGradCC,
I'm sorry you felt it necessary to resort to this. For what it's worth it was not me who deleted your post.
Furthermore, your assertion that either me or Myles was "lying" is outrageous and mistaken. Read the quotes in Willis' commitment story. Verbatim, friend. Kid did not want to go public right away. He had decided on Boston College but here's the kicker - we actually talked to Willis just before he told the coaches of his decision, and learned of his decision before he told them. Therein lies the misunderstanding.
I wasn't lying, Willis wasn't lying, and frankly you didn't have enough evidence to accuse either one of us of lying.
Now, I did see your message - which someone else deleted, not me - and if I had seen it then I would have deleted it because it was out of bounds. Personal attacks, especially vicious ones such as yours, on 17-18 year old kids making difficult decisions, especially when rooted in ignorance, don't have any place here. Whether you're paying for the site or not.
EaglegradCC wrote:Cut the ever-present sanctimonious BS. He lied. It's very simple. He said something to one person, and then he denied it. That, by any definition is a lie.
He's a liar and he's in love with Mike Vick. Any human with at least one neuron knows that 1) he is one of the most reprehensible things in American Sport history and 2) sucks horribly at QB.
We had another fairly well thought of recruit who has similar thoughts about Vick - Justin Tuggle. Remember him? Remember how well that worked out?
Also cut the sanctimonious BS about 17-18 year olds. This country has been mass murdering 17-18 year olds for years, and suddenly we can't call one a liar - which he is?
You're "job" is to kiss the ass of kids - I get the fact that this makes you a ball washing apologist, but it doesn't excuse the fact.
And finally - you're recruiting board absolutely sucks. Worthless. Almost none of the recruits we've landed since it's been up have even be on there. It's incomplete, it's grossly inaccurate, and it's only updated once a month. Stop wasting our time. Maybe no one wants this shitty job, but someone should be able to do it better than you in 5 minutes a day and for free.

bc is not a top 40 destination in anything (stadium to fan base to facilities to weather to local recruiting to diversity) yet some expect us to be in the 20s in rankings. ok, that makes sense. realistically, we will recruit a bit better with a younger guy but still should be in that 40-60 range most yrs.
we are more like syracuse fball than clemson fball. and it may get worse...unless a phenom coach comes along.
it's not just fball...we stink in most sports except hockey and soccer. ever see the recruits coach d is bringing in...they are awful. same deal for the poor guy...just not that much to sell.
