Gridiron Dinner - Questions for Gallup?

Postby MilitantEagle on Wed Sep 08, 2010 1:52 pm

Any questions for Barry Gallup? He usually takes questions at the end.

I would like to know if Fox will return kicks all year.

Does his son still think he has lived out every boy's dream after five years of failure and frustration in South Bend?

Spaz Answers:
Fox will continue to return kicks.
Both QBs will continue to see time. Need to build depth. (Did not make it sound like it was clearly Shinskie's job).
Defended the cushion. Yes, WSU had a long drive, but they only got three points. Need to put our players in a position to do well.
I can't remember the exact quote, but it was very close to, "we are where we are"...We're getting back to where we want to be at QB, but still have work to do on OL and DL. He said something like, 'we're not there yet' meaning, still a couple of years to go.

Gallup Answers:
In response to Isaac Johnson - no comment
A guy suggested playing UMass every year and Gallup said it was not in BC's best interest to do that. (I was pleased to hear that)

Players who answered questions were: Momah, Cleary, Pantale, Quigley, Coleman, Newman, Shinskie. Nothing that crazy, but evidently Cleary is smart because he wants to go to med school. And Pantale said something I hadn't heard before - NFL stands for Not For Long so he wanted to come to BC because academics were second to none. And not far from home.

Standard coach-speak. Good stuff from the players.

Again, why do we have Fox returning kicks? KR is not a good position for a slow white guy.

Having shitty kick returners is a grand tradition at BC, like singing Buttercup no matter the game situation. It's too ingrained to change now.

No, and there's no reason to have Fox returning kicks at all.

Not in pads and with as football in his hands, he is not. Either that, or the turf is slowing him down. Because he looked like he was running through the Boston Molasses Spill of 18-dickety-two last Saturday.
