October Classic Coming Soon

Postby BCEagle74 on Sun Sep 20, 2009 5:31 pm

Tigers/Minnesota at Yankees

Red Sox at Angels

*************************
Cardinals at Dodgers

Rockies/Giants at Phillies

*************************

The Yankees seem to have very suspect starting pitching, whereas the Halos picked up Kazmir and their starters are the best in the American League.

The Yankees beat Verlander, that opening series is over.

After the Angels, the way Buchholtz has come on might help or Dice K coming back, maybe the best thing the Yankees did was avoid the Halos, since the Red Sox will have their hands full.

Scioscia has that club hitting and running the bases and being really assertive.

I say the Angels are a slight favorite.

**************************
The Cardinals have 2 pitchers who have been red hot in Wainwright and Carpenter. Add in Pinero and you have a repeat of the regular season pitching and the Cards are slight chalk.

The Philles also have a great staff top to bottom and what a match-up.

I think the Phillies may hit better in the post season, but their pitching is not lights out like Wainright and Carpenter.

Carpenter is a guy who could win 2, 3 and 3 and get you 8 of the 11 needed W's.

The Dodgers are not as tough front line pitching wise, solid bats, but are scrappy and hungry.

Colorado is a true mystery team, that when they get hot, they are unbeatable and an patchwork pitching staff.

**************************

I will start a Post-Season pick thread when the deal is set.

Another Yankees -Cardinals series whould be perfect for me. I was ticked after the 1964 Series and those lucky bastards. 1960 was a nightmare, but in 1964 having the best Pitcher of all time in Gibson was the true difference making deal.

Guy pitches on 3 days rest --and then after 2 days rest after going 9, he goes 9 to win the World Series Game 7.

8 days 27 innings and 31 K's and wins the last 2 and the last one on 2 days rest.

Most guys today would go 14 innings and then need an extra weeks--er month on the DL-- or rest---or like the Yankees are babying Jobanna Chambermaid.

Sox are peaking at the right time.

The poor Angels are going to have to play a 98-win wild card team in the first round.

Sox-Yanks ALCS (assuming the Yankees pitching gets itself in order).
