Red Shirts Burned

Postby DuchesneEast on Sat Sep 05, 2009 7:40 pm

I was suprised they played Marco Polo and esp Finch after they talked about the high expectations they had for Deuce. Not suprised about Luke after the beating we have taken at LB and he was all over the place. I was suprsed at Noel since I think we are deep at DB.

The only one that surprised me is Marscovetra. Finch is the third RB. Kuechly had to play. O'Neal and Davis will be needed in the ACC to provide beef. Noel played very well, evidently he earned it.

To me, playing Marscovetra meant that they don't really care about saving a year. Either they expect Tuggle/Shinskie to play most of his eligibility (which seems likely given what I saw today) or they think Rettig is for real. Saving his redshirt makes no difference then.

I just assumed that they consider Rettig gold and that Tuggle/Shinskie will be better then him for 4 years (sounds right)

Obviously the staff is not writing this year off like the media or they wouldnt have played Noel or Finch. Eventhough everyone would give Spaz a honeymoon, I am glad he is going for the balls. I just became so used to TOBy redshirting everyone.

About Marscovetra, lets not forget, if Shinskie or Tuggle have a break out year and earn the spot, they can always Red-Shirt him next year.

They won't bother. That's our point.

Do you think part of the playing as a true freshman was a spaz recruiting point. I know marco wasnt since he didnt have any other d1 offers but maybe it played a part with the others. Just a thought

I thought about that with Deuce. They may have said Haden gets hurt, Harris cant carry the load solo, that way they redshirt Pfeifer and have some insurance down the road.

Perhaps they figure over the next few years they expect to recruit 'better' QBs and have no qualms moving these guys through their years of eligibility.

Nope. White played left tackle.
