Due to a bug in the previous template, I have decided to use a new template for football players.

Check it out: http://eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index.php ... k_Herzlich

Template: http://eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index.php ... all_player

Excellent. That's exactly what I was looking for.

So here is the latest..

Before we go on a full scale population of the wiki, we probably want to test out how the templates react for each sport/athlete.

Also here is a possible plan on how we will treat players after graduation.

Football
Current players - use http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index ... k_Herzlich as an example
Former players
NFL - We likely want to update the their profile to reflect an NFL infobox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Ryan. I think we should leave up their college infobox and put it in the collegiate section.
No NFL - Probably just want to indicate graduated and leave their college infobox.
Recruiting - I am not in favor of adding entries for recruits. Lets leave that to Farrell and company. We can track prospects/commitments on a 20xx recruiting page with the existing prospect infoboxes.

Basketball
Current players - There is no similar infobox (with team colors) like one I used for football. Should we modify the current football infobox with basketball specific fields?
Former players
NBA - We may want to update their profile to reflect an NBA infobox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Dudley. I think we should leave up their college infobox and put it in a different section.
In Europe - We can move their college infobox to the collegiate section and then add this Euro league infobox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrese_Rice
No professional - Probably just want to indicate graduated and leave their college infobox.
Recruiting - Again, I am not in favor of adding entries for recruits. We can track prospects/commitments on a 20xx recruiting page.

Hockey
Current Players - I will likely create a new template for hockey based on the football/basketball ones.
Former players
NHL / Minor Leagues - Both use the same simple Ice hockey player infobox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krys_Kolanos and move the college Infobox to their collegiate section
No professional - Indicate graduated and move college infobox to their collegiate section
Recruiting - Probably just list commitments using heisenberg's lists http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... XIJG47g-ug

Also, a huge gold star to anyone who can figure out why the following templates from our wiki are broken. The issue seems to be the conditional logic creating more columns (via HTML table tags) in the box score if the game has an OT period is not working. I have spent hours on this and can't figure it out...
http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index ... ockey_game
http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index ... ingle_game
http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index ... early_game

Here is what I was pouring over last night:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:I ... ockey_game
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Template
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia: ... nal_tables
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:I ... nditionals

We have the following extensions installed on our wiki server:

I don't do this code-talking, but I'd give cash to see a good write up of Lenny Walls and Paul Grant.

Not sure what happened, but the 'page' 'history' 'discuss' tabs are no longer 'connected' to the page white space.

Hey :shock ,

I'm trying to add boxes for Kelley, Conte and Alumni, but I don't think we have the templates for infoboxes on stadiums. Could you add or tell me how to?

To add templates on the wiki:
Two options to start
A) Go to wikipedia and type into the search "Template:<what you're searching for>"
B) Go to wikipedia and search for a similar person/place that you are looking to copy.

Then go to edit page and you can see what that stadium page is using for an infobox template. Seems there are multiple for stadiums (Infobox Stadium or Infobox_Stadium, the one w/o underscore seems easier) and so you may want to search around.
Scroll to the bottom of the edit page where it displays all the templates used for this page and select the one being used and you should be brought to: [*]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:<template_name>[*]
Click Edit this page and copy ALL of the text in the input box.
Navigate to: [*]http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index.php?title=Template:<same template name as above>[*]
Click Edit this Page and copy ALL of the text in the input box.
Click Save Page, you will br brought back to: [*]http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index.php?title=Template:<same template name as above>[*]

If you are feeling generous, go back to [*]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:<template_name>[*] and in the blueish box titled "Template Documentation" click on [edit] (next to the [purge] button).
Copy ALL of the text in the input box.
Navigate back to: [*]http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index.php?title=Template:<sametemplate name as above>[*]
Where blue box was on wikipedia, there should be a much smaller one on the EO wiki titled "Template documentation."
Click the create button.
Paste all the text from the previous page into the input box (page should be a titled Template:<same template name as above>/doc).
Click Save Page.

Got another one for you :shock

This is what I did with basketball recruits: http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index ... _of_Intent

I couldn't break your template to get the stars in, so I added them below. If you remove the rivals/scout thing and 40 time from the template and keep what I added, we should be good.

The stars thing will work in the future. I just need to speak with the hosting company about what SVG converter is installed on my linux box. So lets hold off before we change the template.

You can see the results here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:C ... ruit_Entry

Okay...I hadn't realized that was the plan. If that indeed does work out, all you will have to do is remove the 40 time from the football template, copy it for basketball with that removal, and the basketball one will work just fine.

Yeah it may also be smart to add some other fields (GPA, recruiter, etc) to the template in the future.

I'm having problems with this.

Once I get to the step:
Navigate to: [*]http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index.php?title=Template:<same template name as above>[*] (I substituted "Infobox_stadium"), I got:

http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index ... stadium%3E

Which said: "The requested page title was invalid, empty, or an incorrectly linked inter-language or inter-wiki title. It may contain one or more characters which cannot be used in titles. "

if you're writing up len-bone, you better write up ken-bone too

"949, i aced that shit!"

- ken-bone, in regards to his sat score.

[this was told to Hansen by a member of the Men's basketball team. it would have been better if Hansen could have been able to hear it straight from the horse's mouth but Hansen appreciate the story nonetheless. as to whyHhansen the intern is talking in the third-person he has no idea and is just going to keep going with it.]

:shock - If you can add things to the recruiting template easily, here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Everything you have already on is fine.
2. Things to add: Interest Level, GPA/SAT and coach recruiting player.

I'm going forward with the 2011 class (here is what I plan on doing for those players):

http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index ... Recruiting

So when/if you get that done let me know and I'll go ahead with 2011.

So what is the deal with using Wikipedia text to fill a page? I am working on creating a Hockey Page for the hockey team so I can add in their schedule and results for this year and don't want it to just be a plain white page.

So can we copy Wikipedia text (as long as we have the references) or not?

Working on this page: http://www.eagleoutsider.com/wiki/index.php?title=Boston_College_Hockey

Good stuff- We can copy the info box, but not the summaries and whatnot. That you have to make by yourself.

Tre et al will be happy to know that I have no idea how to contribute to this new site. Of course, if I did contribute, it would be deemed to not be much of a contribution and moved. But, I wonder where it would be moved to? Maybe the Anti-Matter chamber at CERN.
