My first job tending bar was tips-only at O'Malley's, and when I showed up for work one day the door was locked. Red had Jane call me four days later to tell me they weren't coming back. I got the impression there was a falling out between Red and his cop friends after too many youngsters started packing the place, and his less-than-legal serving policies caught up with him. It's now called Engine 14 or something like that. I went there once. It sucked.

I heard a rumor Red died a year or so ago, but I don't know where it started or whether it's true. RIP O'Malley's, and long live Red.
