Wow. With him and his fellow 4/5 star recruit Josh Haden, the Gators will have the college equivalent of Tom Brady and Percy Harvin in their backfield. 4/5 stars are ALWAYS the best players. Ask Matt Ryan and Doug Flutie. Rettig probably heard from Haden that there weren't enough parties and jock worshippers at BC. Florida is his better option if that's what he wants. If he wants an education, then he will come to BC. There is no comparison between Florida and BC in football or academics. The kid needs to decide if he wants a degree that means something after his 1% chance shot of getting into the NFL which are the odds of getting to the NFL for a college player.

I'm sure Rettig has the potential to be better. Shinskie has shown potential. He has to eliminate his mistakes obviously. I recall that Brett Favre nor John Elway did not light up the NFL for their first three years. He is inconsistent which is the hallmark of an inexperienced QB. He had a horrible game. He has had some great games. I'm still willing to cut him some slack. I have not given up on Uncle Dave yet. If it's one thing FB coaches should admit is that judging talent is damn near impossible and a crap shoot. Brady was a 6th round pick and will be in the HOF. Jemarcus Russell was a first round pick and the Raiders backed up the Brink's truck to sign him and he is F'in horrible. You just don't know. Rettig could be the second coming or he could be Billy Bennett at QB. After all we have been through and still a shot at 9-4, I'm ok with that performance in what I would say is a rebuilding year. The jury is still out on Spaz too but I will give him more time before I throw him off the cliff.

I am throwing neither Spaz nor Sthitskie off a cliff. I was just responding to your knee jerk shot at Haden and comparison to Rettig.

That said, while the overall success of the team is okay (I thought 9-3, I will take 8-4) there are alarm bells from Spaz even in some of the wins, and there is a lot about Shitskie that makes me long for the next QB. Can each get better? Absolutely. But there is a ton of work to be done.

Knee jerk? Haden played in 18 games for us and was marginal at best and now some think he will be Percy Harvin at Florida. Rettig-the jury is out. The more I watch football, the more I am convinced that talent assessment is a crap shoot. Just too many instances of 4/5 stars and first round draft picks being duds and 2/3 stars and 6th round plus draft picks being superstars. I think Johnny U. was like a 12th round pick. Boy, did he suck. Brady, 6th round-another loser. Jemarcus Russell, first round-dud and my all-time favorite Ryan Leach, first round--dud and disaster on and off the field. Crap shoot.

Rettig is solid. Nothing to worry about with UF. All this is a rumor that was started on anither UF board. UF doesn't want Rettig,and they are pushing hard for MICH commit Devin Gardner. There is nothing to worry about here. Most likely UF isn't even going to take another QB in 2010 unless Gardner or Scroggins flips.

Rettig is coming into a very good situation. He is supposed to enroll in January and will be contending right away for the starting position. We are always at the top of the Atlantic division, even in a "rebuilding" year. BC is an incredible school - what is not to like!?! Go Eagles!!

The rumor was Tuggle considered transfering and went to talk to Day and Spaz about it. They convinced him to stay. I was shouted down by the same pussies who are freaking out about the posts on Florida's board.
