Fenway Bowl - Thursday 11 AM

Postby eepstein0 on Wed Dec 27, 2023 9:38 am

Feels like 34 degrees and raining is perfect for this game. Probably helps BC because SMUs athletes are going to launch guys like DePalma & Pupil to the moon on a dry field!

Looking for reasons to be bullish on BC:
Everyone (except ATL) thinks we're gonna lose. BC teams traditionally suck when people think they're good, and tend to play better when everyone thinks they suck.
SMU played a much weaker schedule. BCmay have had the easiest Power 5 sked, but SMU's was much weaker. Is there really a quality win in their schedule? Maybe Tulane but Tulane's getting smoked by Virginia Tech right now.
Seems like full o-line will play
Positive start to the game will do wonders for this team.

(on edit) It appears BC beat Maryland in Detroit 7 years ago. But anyway, this is nice.

Apparently I am not the only person who is self-loathing enough to have watched that. My God, SMU is horrendous and the AAC should be relegated to 1AA. The worst part of this is I will be stupid enough to read the one or two news articles that will be written about this meaningless game and will be subjected to the narrative that it is a “big win” for Hafley “over a ranked opponent” that “won 11 games” and was “conference co-champion.” And no one will mention that the last time SMU played a team that wasn’t completely rostered by drooling retards and limp wristed Nancy Boys, they got pantsed by a terrible TCU.

I hope all of you assholes had a horrible Christmas and the New Year brings you misery and death.

That was a quality win – they were ranked for Christ's sake. Even if you thought SMU was overrated (as I did), it was a good win. BC played mostly well. 7-6 is way better than 6-7. That SMU QB has a helluva arm anyway and Castellanos can run and actually made one or two legit good passes today.

It’s a hell of a win if SMU was really a decent football team. But they aren’t. They played two real football teams and got pantsed both times. Getting pantsed by Oklahoma is no shame. That can happen to a good team. Getting pantsed by a 5-7 TCU that finished near the bottom of the Big 12 is a disgrace and no amount of wins against the likes of Rice, UTSA, North Texas and the rest of the assorted shitbag teams that comprise the AAC changes that fact. BC won a home game in shitty miserable weather against a southern team with talent equivalent to Georgia Tech with a record built on feasting on glorified 1AA schools. Today was a lot of things, but a hell of a win is not one of them. And the retards in our athletic department will look at today’s win as a great victory and probably give Hafley and additional extension because the program “just beat a ranked opponent and is turning the corner.”

Fuck it. We deserve the last decade of BC football if we are excited by this.

Dick I don't think anyone here at EO is excited about this win. I think it is more we are happy to NOT be disappointed, for once. So in that sense alone, a hell of a win.

It was a good win. Might have been our best bowl win since William Green ran all over Dawgvent. It doesn't mean that Hafley won't be looking for a job by next Christmas after being rocketshipped next season. I'm happy to just not being embarrassed.

I should note that the offensive coaches should be applauded this year. Don't know if it was Shinko or Chud. but putting a RB at QB was brilliant. Aldo have to give a ton of credit to Applebaum who did a very good job fixing the OL. I still don't think he is a great coach, but he had a very good year.

If Genius Mike McDaniel wants you, doesn't that make you a good coach?

I'm good with this backhanded compliment of the O coaches.

I’m good with 7 wins most years, although how they got there with this schedule wasn’t the prettiest of experiences.

I’d again encourage folks to enjoy this while you can because once the ACC dissolves, BC Football will more or less cease to exist.

College football already is well down the road to not existing at any school. The ACC’s status has absolutely nothing to do with it.

we have a possible "window" into BC's football future. That window is Oregon State and Washington State. We can watch and see what happens to those programs to maybe, GUESS? at the future. I don't know.

Oregon State alumni and Washington State alumni would trade places with BC alumni in a second if they had the opportunity. But they don't.
