Looking forward to seeing Washington vs. Oregon St. tonight in Corvallis. Hoping the Huskies can pull out the victory to stay in playoff contention.

Rivalry week, the best week in college football.

Tonight Oregon vs. Oregon St. (due to conference realignment could this be the end of the rivalry)
Michigan vs. Ohio State (will the loser still make the playoffs)
Wisconsin vs. Minnesota
Florida St. vs Florida (would not surprise me if Florida wins this one)

I despise FSU but 13-0 is 13-0.

Guessing Washington, Michigan, Texas, FSU get in.

Best four teams are probably Michigan, Texas, Alabama, Washington in no particular order with Georgia, tOSU, Oregon, FSU being the next four.

Funny how playing in the ACC was never FSU’s problem in the rankings. It was their out of conference games that ended their season.

the SEC should be left out but probably won't, the conference's best OOC win was what? a 3 point win for eli against kansas state?

Texas has to be the 4th team in. The only debatable issue is the order of the top 3: FSU, Mich & Wash.

To where? They would already be gone if they had an offer from SEC or B10. They would be gone even if they had made the playoffs if they had an offer from either conference. What lost their season was playing North Alabama (who didn’t know how to tackle) and Florida (who ended FSU’s bid by targeting the backup QB). Not making the playoffs just means they can’t extort more money while waiting for the ACC contract to end.

Btw… what happens if FSU beats UGA? Do they claim UCF’s National Championship?

After listening to the selection committee chairman explain the playoff rankings and seedings, it occurred to me that leaving an undefeated power-5 champion OUT not because they didn't play anyone but instead, because the QB broke his leg, well, we really have pushed the envelope for subjectivity. The backup QB beat #11 Louisville in the championship game. Guess that doesn't mean shit.

12 teams in playoffs fixes everything. Fuck every single chamber of commerce for the cities hosting those bullshit bowl games.

Mike Norvell {l Wrote}:I am disgusted and infuriated with the committee’s decision today to have what was earned on the field taken away because a small group of people decided they knew better than the results of the games. What is the point of playing games? Do you tell players it is okay to quit if someone goes down? Do you not play a senior on Senior Day for fear of injury? Where is the motivation to schedule challenging non-conference games? We are not only an undefeated P5 conference champion, but we also played two P5 non-conference games away from home and won both of them. I don’t understand how we are supposed to think this is an acceptable way to evaluate a team.

I’m hurting for our players who have displayed a tremendous amount of resilience and response this season. What happened today goes against everything that is true and right in college football. A team that overcame tremendous adversity and found a way to win doing whatever it took on the field was cheated today. It’s a sad day for college football.

I’m proud of the work we have put in and the players I have the privilege to coach. We have one more opportunity to define this 2023 team in the Orange Bowl, and I believe in how our team will respond.

For the record… what happened to FSU today is a travesty. Pure and simple.

That said… it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving fanbase.

Maybe, just maybe, the world would’ve thought more of the ACC title if Alford and FSU didn’t spend the last 4 months bitching about the conference being non-competitive and nothing more than FSU and the 12 dwarves. They sacrificed their playoff position all so they can grab a couple more sheckles from Boo Corrigan and NCS to help pay-off Willie Taggart’s buyout. Karma bitches.

The logic used to eliminate FSU from the playoffs would be the same logic used to eliminate them even if Georgia had won. Georgia wins, Texas is the #4. Basically, the only way FSU gets into the playoffs is if Iowa, Oklahoma State, or Oregon wins. And in reality, its only if Iowa or Oklahoma State wins because Oregon would have leap frogged a 13-0 FSU and the Ducks are in the playoffs!

Talk about mission impossible. The ACC Championship was virtually meaningless.

Or they could’ve run an offense that didn’t rival BC’s from 2022. They had an opportunity to take their 5-star backup QB and their 5-star RB and their 5-OL and their NFL receivers and put together a performance that didn’t look inept. All they had to do was look not pathetic. They failed. Texas and Michigan obliterated their opponent. FSU tried to win without an offense (like the NY NFL teams). That was enough to beat Louisville, but the Committee had every right to question whether that team could beat Texas, Bama, UGA or OSU. Hell… they’d be underdogs to Oregon. I don’t agree with the decision, but FSU’s offensive ineptitude (when every single commentator said they have 2 weeks to show the world they were more than Travis) is what brought them to this place.

I also blame Mike Alford for not politicking until after they missed out. Stanley was out there telling the world how great his conference is. Alford politically didn’t want to promote the ACC… and no one in the conference felt any need publicly support their cause. Knowing how ridiculous that fanbase is, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them try to go independent and forego their media rights in the meantime… just out of spite.

LOL 13-0 in the ACC is better than 7-6 in the SEC with 4 wins over directional Florida.

i mean it was their 3rd string true FR QB in his first start.

if we're basing teams off that, when alabama played their 3rd string QB against the impressive 6-6 USF bulls. usf was driving late in the 4th Q to tie the game.

Against Florida... we are not talking about their third string true freshman. We are talking about the same player who would have played in the playoffs. He had seen plenty of action during his career... and still sucked. And, before we go through all the pearl-clutching over FSU's QB situation being caused by targeting penalty... let's recall that the score was 17-15 with 3:00 to play with FSU facing a 4th and 6 from the 40. The only reason it wasn't is because the idiot Gator safety lost his team the game by knocking the 2nd-teamer into next month (though the Noles thought his bell-ringing wasn't loud enough to prevent him from finishing the game).

And it’s the same FSU who barely beat Ville who got rocketshipped the week before by an SEC basement-dweller.

There is no arguing that FSU got screwed. There is no arguing that Bama would beat FSU by double-digits. Shit… the 6th ranked team just opened as a 13.5 point favorite in the Orange Bowl.

If not for the stupidity of "The Alliance", we would have been at 12 teams LAST YEAR and there would be no issue. Call Jim Phillips and thank him for the mess as in 2021 he was one of the 3 who voted to delay the expanded playoffs.

Meh. All FSU being left behind tells me is that they are in the right conference. Any other ACC team in the same position would also be left out. Hell... we all remember Herbie bemoaning BC beating VaTech and "holding the #2 ranking hostage." Matty Ice doesn't lose to FSU and MD, ESPN would've had their on-air talent talking about "best vs deserving" well over a decade ago.

Not that year they wouldn't. LSU played for (and won) a national championship with TWO losses. A 12-0 BC would not only have been the best, but also the most deserving. Ohio State would have been the school they argued on the "best vs deserving" with respect to the spot taken from LSU.

Herbie's remarks about BC "holding the #2 ranking hostage" had nothing to do with BC not being the 2nd best team in the country. You would not find even one talking head, not one "expert" that wouldn't agree that Ryan was the best college QB in the entire country. It had everything to do with BC holding a spot in the national championship hostage because BC has no fan base and no national interest. The Chamber of Commerce was held hostage. Ticket master looking for "mark-up-pricing" was held hostage. ESPN/Fox Sports that needed big ratings to sell advertising was held hostage. The few BC fans that exist, they would never have traveled to the national championship game. The game would have been very much like the ACC Championship in Jacksonville in early December, largely empty. BC in a national championship is HORRIBLE for the overall "value" of college football from a marketing standpoint, nationally.
