A guy pulling this is gonna end up being a regular in the portal, imo.

So Matt Hasselback contributes to saddling us with a guy that is not a head coach, and then his son can't even play for said coach. If Marty had a 17 yo 3 star son that was deciding between BC football and another school, I guess we know which direction he would go as well. I knew this already, but NEVER EVER let current or former players decide on your football coach.

This is what durkcal is referring to. The kid committed to play lax at MD. But, then decided to play Football. Since MD doesn’t have a FB team, he chose to play at MSU over BC (neither of which have lax).

Out of BC's 14 commits, just two are inside the top 1000 according to 247.

How many will transfer after 2 seasons and how many will ever play a meaningful snap anywhere.

I don't think people understand that the new world of CFB has no resemblance to the old. Any of those players who are any good are getting paid 6-figures in NIL money. Any player that isn't getting paid that develops, will transfer to play for someone who is offering 7-figures. Big time college sports is dead. It is a minor league system with no draft and no salary cap.

He’d be an improvement over the - checks notes - no QBs we currently have in the ‘24 class

Fuck that, abandon the bald drop back QB. This offense should be all spread, dual threat. It's the only thing that has worked since Ryan graduated.

This… but with a caveat.

If the transfer portal will continue to be a thing, I would prefer us to only recruit QBs out of HS if they are superstars that have some strange desire to attend BC. Otherwise, picking backups off of better programs is a much better strategy. Especially since, if BC lucked into another Matt Ryan, it would be difficult (to impossible) to keep him on campus.

If your Hafley what is your incentive to give a scholarship to a high school project recruit? The staff has not shown the ability to develop these guys. Might as well go all in on transfers who are older, usually bigger and stronger and you have a better idea of their floor.
