ok fine

5-7 (2-6)

wins over Rutgers, Maine, UConn, Duke, and Syracuse (Hafley's last game as head coach at Boston College)

BC's defense ranked dead last in the ACC last year. I certainly hope with all the depth developed in the backfield that will improve this year, but I suspect it may not improve all that much. And the head coach is supposed to be a defensive guru. Not seeing it. Moreover, there are 5 brand new starters on the offensive line that (last year) played pretty offensively. I predict no improvement on that side of the ball in 2022.

This is year 3. The players are all his, not Addazio's. If he doesn't get something done this year, might be time to say goodbye. If he does no better than he did last year (and I don't think he will) then it WILL be time to say goodbye.

10-2 bitches!!!

Losses to Clempsun and Frauds. BC's success (along with Wake's and Pitt's from last year) will cause "name" programs (who wildly underperform) to announce they're leaving for the SEC. Hafley will be out the door before we can even accept our invite to the shitty CryptoCollapse.com Bowl.

Love the enthusiasm. Hope you are correct.

Agree with this almost exactly as is IFF the offensive line holds up. Anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2 depending on how Clemson plays and how beneficial the bye week is before Wake. They’ll be well-scouted by November and they’re still thin in the trenches so RCC &!ND would be tough. Not impossible but tough.

But that’s what I don’t understand yet. The offensive line really seemed to underachieve last year despite Appelbaum failing upward. Conley protecting Jurkovec’s blind side REALLY concerns me. If he truly improved or someone could surpass him I’ll feel better. But more broadly, a bad line flips this to probably 4 to 6 wins as Clemson, Louisville, FSU, Tech and even Rutgers become losses.

do you feel as confident about this prediction as you did in predicting that BC would beat USC in 2014? if so, then I feel much better

I have no idea how this will turn out and there are very few outcomes that would shock me. I think the Rutgers game will tell us everything because of the general shittyness of the ACC. If we beat Rutgers I could see us 5-0 before losing back to back to Clemson and at Wake Forest. Then we are 7-2 before losing back to back at RCC and ND, followed by a win at home against Cuse for an 8-4. I can almost talk myself into believing we could beat Clemson at home if it is last year's iteration of Clemson which seemed very Terry Bowdenesque. Wake looks like the every five years-type Wake team that is loaded with 23 and 24 year old men, so I don't see us winning on the road. ND has too many horses and I think that is the one "no chance whatsoever" game on the schedule. RCC has more talent and its a road game, but RCC has historically proven that it can stomp all over its own dick at any moment. So beat Rutgers and worst case is 8-4 best case 10-2.

If we lose to Rutgers, then we lose at VPI, at Florida State, home against Louisville and Clemson and at Wake Forest before beating UCan't on the road and home against Dook before losing to RCC and ND and then beating Cuse to finish 4-8. Of course, the good news is I won't be watching any of it and will be able to attend kid's travel sports without watching ESPN 3 on my phone.

I've been watching BC football for a long time and this feels like a season with a LOT more upside potential than downside risk. Every great run BC has had in the past 50 years comes with great quarterback play and a coach that's willing to play to win. Seems like we have both in place this year. There's more talent at the skill positions than I ever recall us having. We should be able to score a lot of points and we've got a supposed defensive genius on the sidelines and some athletes and depth in the defensive backfield. The oline is a concern but they don't need to be great. All bets are off if Jurkovec goes down but losing the starting QB is a killer for most programs.

I see 4-8. We regressed last year. It wasn't just Jurk going down. Changes were made to offensive staff, but that takes time to pay off.

Defense could come along much faster than I expect, but I believe the Atlantic is much better than people on this board expect. We have 3 top 25 teams on our sched IMO, and 5 top 35 teams.

I still think Haf can be the guy. But 2022 is a growth year.

1. Fuck Brad Bates for these awful non-conference schedules. Rutgres and UConn in the same season, Jesus Christ.

2. I'm assuming we'll beat some shitty teams while Jurkovec is healthy and then lose a bunch of games when he gets hurt and blame it on his injury even though we would have lost anyway. We're going 6-6 again, but it's still ten-and-two season, so I have no other choice.

I think the ACC is in a down cycle and I think ND is overrated. So I am going 10-2 with choke jobs losses to NC St and Wake. We go to mid-level bowl and win that too.

This team is very 2013-ish. By that I mean....

  • a very veteran, very experienced, Sr QB that never had much help around him
  • an offensive line that may be talented but is still young
  • one very capable tailback that can alter the outcome of a game
  • one exceptional wide out (much like Amidon was in 2013)
  • one very good DE
  • and lastly, a strong secondary (strong by BC standards at least)

Obviously, the 2013 team had dramatic deficiencies. We all know that. This team does as well. But that doesn't change the fact that I could argue that the 2013 team (or even the 2014 team) were the best teams Addazio ever coached. I'm saying 5-7 but (maybe) 7-5 is possible?

durkcal {l Wrote}:I see 4-8.

I may have been too optimistic lol. Maybe we can steal a game at Va Tech next week bc they think we're a joke? I still see 6-7 double digit losses though.

they have no offensive line and lots of empty spaces at other positions

I said 5-7. Might be 3-9
