Like holy shit… I am so happy we do not have an NIL program. The fucking pearl-clutching from our shitty fans is ridiculous. What the hell do you think happens at good programs that pays their players 6-figs? We deserve our Patriot League destiny… at least Chesney will be familiar with the opponents.

Gotta give Hafley credit... we are getting a lot of press off of last week's game.

Trevor Hass with a "state of the program" piece, including a statement from AD James.

After two six-win seasons to start his tenure, however, the program has regressed considerably with a 2-6 start this year. BC’s first-ever loss to Connecticut — in which the Eagles finished with more turnovers (five) than points (three) — has caused unrest among many disgruntled alumni and students.
...
Blake James, BC’s first-year athletic director, said in a statement to the Globe that Hafley is the man for the job.

“Certainly we are all disappointed in this season’s results so far, no one more so than Jeff,” James said. “I know that he, the staff and our student-athletes continue to work hard each and every day and we will continue to do all we can to support them in their efforts. Jeff is an outstanding coach and a great fit for Boston College and I am confident that the victories will come.”

...

Hafley believes the Eagles have a “really good foundation....You’ve got to continue to move forward and make adjustments as needed,” Hafley said. “Then, yeah, when it’s all done, I’ve got to sit down and take a hard look at things and really dig deep into it from all levels. Clearly, we have to get better, and I’ll be the first to admit that.”

I gotta say that I think that’s the most optimistic statement I’ve seen about the program this year.

Yikes. Home games over Thanksgiving are dicey as it is without the team being most likely 3-8 and freezing weather.

Not a well thought out plan to host a game (I understand this is all tv driven). :ace

Which prospect are you moving up your board?

Reid: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College. He was unstoppable in an upset victory over NC State, posting 130 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions on seven catches. And the performance came with redshirt freshman Emmett Morehead starting at QB in place of Phil Jurkovec (knee). At 5-foot-10 and 172 pounds, he is a smaller wideout but plays much bigger than his frame indicates.

He has strong hands and elusiveness after the catch, making defenders miss in space with ease. On his second touchdown catch (35 yards), he exhibited his explosiveness as he took a simple crossing route to the endzone. Flowers reminds me a lot of Jets receiver Elijah Moore when he was coming out of Ole Miss. Flowers is firmly in the Day 2 discussion, and it shouldn't come as a surprise if Flowers ends up selected inside the top 50.

Kiper: Jordan, I really like Flowers, too, and I'll go one step further on him and say he could land in Round 1 when everything is said and done. He's playing this well with mediocre quarterback play, showing explosion, great hand-eye coordination and speed after the catch. He's one of my favorite prospects in the entire class.

Watching the game last night, DeVonta Smith reminded me of Flowers.
I have never seen a BC WR do what Flowers did on his 2nd TD against NCSTate!

there must be some serious corruption going down (in our favor for a change!) because last I checked there were 33 possible 6-6 teams for 15 available spots.

phil Jurkovec posted the following on instagram:

“I always really liked Notre Dame football despite most in my family having no affiliation or affection for the school. I turned down some great opportunities in order to fulfill my childhood dream of playing on the team and I think everyone who helped to make that happen. Good fortune allowed me to meet some incredible people while there- players, coaches, professors, priests, etc. Notre Dame has been a tremendous force for good in the world and it will continue this excellence because of its good people. Some derogatory comments have come out in the media in regards to my perspective on the place and I’d like to clarify: Notre Dame holds some of the highest ideals and these are very difficult to live up to. I don’t think the institution practices its stated virtues in all aspects of campus but I urge it to do so because I think it can be better.

“I wish many of those I met much success. Anyone close to me knows how badly I’d love to play in this game but I am currently recovering from a diagnosed concussion, broken rib, and sprained MCL. ‘As it relates’ to Boston College, even amid a most difficult year, I have never been more proud to represent the school. The adversity we’ve faced has molded and strengthened me. We’re primed for success and it will come soon to The Heights (on eagles’ wings). Although it’s been a famine of a season, we should know that it brings no fear.

“Let’s remember that Boston College was founded for and by Irish immigrants. Notre Dame du Lac was founded by the French (something they teach you in First Year Moreau). The Dropkick Murphys were started in Boston and their song “For Boston” is our fight song. They sing “I’m Shippin’ Up to Boston” and definitely not “I’m Shippin’ Up to South Bend.” So if you’re in that stadium and you cheer when that song comes on before kickoff, know that you are either rooting for BC or otherwise supporting cultural appropriation. But in the words of Mac, it ain’t nothin’ but a brand name.
