Back when this happened I looked up a pre-Jurkovec interview with a doctor who treated this type of injury. He talked about 6 weeks in a cast, and evaluation at that point with more recovery likely. Prognosis as I recall was up to ten or twelve weeks depending on the break and how it healed.
I think Jurkovec's surgery was on Monday 9/13. So Monday 10/25 was the 6-week mark. I think today would be Day 53, 7.5 weeks post-surgery. Back then I thought this was the absolute earliest he would play, but only if BC were in the hunt for the ACCCG.
But maybe Hafley and Jurkovec's interests align such that they accept risk and he plays. Hafley obviously wants to stop the bleeding and let Cignetti run his offense. This season has served as "proof of concept" because recruits can envision a better QB hitting those throws, scoring off those directly and stretching the field for everything else. If Jurkovec wants to enter the draft THIS spring, then he needs to show himself on game film reading defenses and completing passes at every level. I would imagine more film is better if the risk of reinjury doesn't change. If he does reinjure himself then he's more likely to come back next year, but playing now means he has a more meaningful choice.
Thornton Melon {l Wrote}:I had this injury earlier this year. At 7 weeks they xrayed me and said I wasn't at any more risk than anyone else to break it again but pain tolerance would be the issue. I golfed and played baseball with a brace - it hurt like hell but I could do them. Obviously was not playing d1 football QB. I imagine they wrap the shit out of it, hand off an awful lot, and he's on some pain meds if he can play. I'd be really surprised at 7 weeks. That said before I saw anything on twitter about it i heard a rumor from inside the program about it, so it isn't complete smoke.

If Hansen is inside the stadium and not smashed into the back wall of a toilet stall and therefore able to check the board, I hope he reports in wkth his beverage of choice.
