No. That would require playing QBs who don't have experience. Not everyone can be Georgia Tech.

So either it was blatantly obvious that the kids can't do it and he is STUCK with Grosel, or he looked at Grosel on the tape and came to the decision its time to end his college football career.

Maybe he looked at the tape, saw that Grosel isn't responsible for the drops and bad routes and lack of protection, and realized no change was justified.

Curious how long the OL and WR groups can go without some shake-up. Underperformance has to have consequences - it's a tough sport!

Maybe.

We will know Saturday. If the rookies are totally unprepared, then it doesn't matter. They don't play. If it IS all Grosel and if one kid can do it, then that will be it.

do the drops count against the defensive players that also can't catch his horrendously thrown balls? you should go spam the boards of the other teams with discussions of god and seniority and that one time denny g threw for a lot of yards for both the offense AND the defense that were able to run back the passes of his that they were able to catch.

you are officially on thin ice, funishment. your opinions posted herein are one thing and i can tolerate that, but cut the other dumb shit or find a new place to spread your bullshit.

it will mean that coach atheist agrees that the other players behind him suck worse than he does. it does not mean he agrees with you that denny g is in any way good at football.

He said it was an easy decision when he looked at the tape. If looking at the tape suggested a change might be warranted, then it would be a hard decision because you would have to weigh whether the backup is ready, if he knows the plays, etc. It's a vote of confidence in Dennis.

I think if any of the freshman are ready to play, then they will play vs Syracuse. If they are not ready, then they will not be ready at anytime this year. And we are stuck with Grosel for the remainder of the season. And if that means another 2015 season, so be it. Just my opinion.

Remember, it only took one shitty game from Drunkskie for :spaz to pull the plug and burn Rettig's redshirt. Sometimes, its obvious the QB has to go because the frosh is just better. We may be at that point. But if we are at that point, why weren't we at that point at the beginning of the season when glass Phil was still upright?

or, it's simply a vote of no confidence in the clown car of 1-aa back ups. which would make you right about coach godless being not good at coaching football or recruiting quarterbacks but not necessarily correct about denny g possessing any level of quarterbacksmanship.

i will allow this position because i am ready to turn on coach haircut and his leadership abilities/coaching decisions

EDIT - shut up hansen. your declarations of certainties in wins and "turning the ship around" have doomed this team and i declare you the team jinx

I don't think anyone here has any realistic confidence in Grosel. He is just not an FBS level quarterback, let alone, a Power-5 level QB. He is relying on his experience and intelligence to play the game because that is all that he has. Sorry Dennis. We are all not cut out for quarterbacking at this level.

The only way this was super easy and a quick decision after watching film is if Jurk magically got cleared. Any film that entrenches Dennis Grosel as QB1 simply does not exist. This was a vote of confidence from Coach Haf-full who wants to see what isn’t. If Grosel starts Saturday and plays like Grosel it will be time for #GetOut. Our backups must really suck. Does this Delaportas kid have anything or will we have to wait 3 years for him to “grasp the offense”?

In fairness to Hafley, he is a first time head coach and is prone to making mistakes. The key is whether or not he learns from them.
In fairness to Grosel, it is possible that he is the best non-Glass QB on the roster... which would speak to how dreadful the position has been recruited and managed.

Against NC State, Grosel was 21-39 for 194 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. 10 of the incompletions (including the interception and the Barry drop in the end zone) bounced off both hands of the receiver and were not caught. Let's assume Grosel maintains the same yards per completion (194/21 = ~9 yards per completion), and assume the WRs catch the ball. Grosel would have gone something like 31-39, 284 yards, 2 TDS, no interceptions. That's Drew Brees in a hairband. And remember, this was against a top 25 team and he was under relentless pressure all game. Looking at the tape and those numbers, not only would it be suicide to bench Grosel - it might well cause the whole team to quit on the coach.

ask any knuckleball catcher if their pitcher is less accurate or if the reason they have trouble catching the knuckleball is because they have no idea where the ball is going. denny g is the phil neikro of quarterbackmanship... except phil was supposed to throw it like that.

the team quitting is also an opinion and not facts because from the body language and the effort against the cardinals, i'd say the team had quit on denny g. that's my opinion but neither me nor you have facts of team quititude.

lastly, your oral massage of denny g is tired and lame and not at all interesting. i'm cool with you being an asshole - hell you do it every day. but the worst thing you can be is boring... and you're knocking that ball out of the park

Wait, you missing the red font? You just turned a 21-39 194 performance into a 31-39 284 performance and I made up facts? One happened and one didn’t. I’m sure there was a drop in the UVA game last year so Dennis should now have the record. Let’s trash the Flutie statue and build one to Dennis (headband and all). Maybe he wasn’t awful at NC State. Whatevs. Your stats don’t show the open receivers he didn’t throw to. Watching the game it’s clear he’s over his head. I at least want to see what the next guy has, even if it’s for a series or two. Maybe Dennis is our best option. But he’s 0-3 ( in his last 3) and staring at 0-8 in a historically bad ACC.
