Let me put one positive thing out there. We've been very lucky to have Grosel on this roster the past few years. He's a capable backup with good leadership, a team player, his teammates seem to love him, and he doesn't complain or bitch at all that he's the backup.

I'd consider just resting both Flowers and Jurk all week and perhaps early on vs. Temple and see if you can pull away from Temple without them. These guys are game-changers and to have them get dinged in Week 2 like this is a big problem that could linger all season long. Sucks.

The suggestion from the EEI crew was that BC was in zone early and went man and UMass kept running pick plays and Hafley left them in man when zone would have been the wiser choice to make a point. I did not see the game and intend to set the DVR on fire rather than watch it, but just throwing that out there.

The DBs were supposed to be our strength. They looked bad today. While they made plays, there were lots of breakdown. People mentioned the pick plays, but what about the guys who were just totally uncovered coming out of the backfield or from the TE positions? They need to get better quickly.

Every game that Jurk misses (aside from Syracuse) probably becomes a toss up.

I also enjoyed when we got the goal line stop on 4th down and then Gresh said we dug a hole for ourselves with respect to field position.

A win is a win is a win. We struggled with Texas St last year. We knew the defense would give up points, it’s a complete rebuild that will take another two years. They will improve, but the key to winning is offense and lots of it. We might only see one really good defense this year in Clemson.
