Thamel says Graham Neff at Clemson and Zac Selmon at OU are also candidates. Both guys who are similar to Jarmonds background.

I have a message from campion- remember him? He told me BC recently announced a hiring freeze, and that hundreds of faculty & staff will be furloughed or let go completely very soon. In light of this, expect an interim hire from within the department who will mind the seat at low cost for the foreseeable future. He kept referring to Martin Jarmond as a "carpetbagger," whatever that means.

He also said he still doesn't like most of you. Don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger.

I hope the Administration doesn't feel they were burnt by Jarmond's short tenure and don't go parochial with the next selection. I believe MJ has left the program better than how he found it. All in with football future, like his other hires as well. We need another non-BC type selection, who will continue what I believe Jarmond has started. On the face of it, Selmon looks like an interesting candidate. I like the exposure with a P5 program not in the east.

I don't think space is far off on his prediction. Not at all what I would want, but BC seems crippled by this whole corona thing.

I love comments on social media from idiots who are complaining that all of our programs haven't been completely turned around in three years. While I loathed Spaz, Daz, and the whole "we are what we are" attitude, nothing gets built in a day at BC. Given the jump in fundraising, as long as Hafley is the step up from Daz that we think he is, Jarmond's tenure has been a success - even if it wasn't as long as I would have liked.

The Athletic Department Power Index evaluates the desirability of Athletic Director jobs in every Division I conference across the country. It is an assessment of the opportunity generally through the eyes of both peers and aspirants to the position were it to become available.

Fake news. They have UCLA is ranked as one of the best jobs in all the P12. We were assured it was a dumpster fire... and traffic.

Cant believe they have Duke ahead of BC for potential football success. And we’re last in facilities when Miami and Pitt don’t even have football stadiums? That is the most important facility you can have.

I can't trust the results of a survey that put Boston and Miami as 13th and 10th in terms of quality of life in the ACC

marty's salary info:

UCLA has hired Boston College's Martin Jarmond as its athletic director, according to sources.

Jarmond, 39, will be paid around $1.2 million per year initially. Sources are indicating the deal includes a five-year contract that will get Jarmond upward of $1.7 per year spread out over the five years.

UCLA also needed to cover a buyout with Boston College, which sources said was close to $2 million.

he was paid roughly $900k here

So we just sold our AD for 2 million dollars? sounds like that was a good investment.

if bc is will to pay that level for a new AD, he/she should be able to build on jarmond's progress.

hey that's another 3% closer to a new basketball facility

A new indoor facility for football was understandable and much needed. Football drives the bus. But I don't see how a new basketball facility moves the needle much. It doesn't come close to outweighing the issue of the Conte Ghosts. BC could start by cutting non-revenue sports like volleyball so they don't have to share Power Gym with them. And whatever office/admin space is freed up by eliminating a couple of programs can be given to the basketball program.

It would seem a facility for hockey is more necessary. Perhaps they can build a rink at Pine Manor. And that could help the basketball programs by giving them more time to practice in Conte.

If BC hoops moves to the newly acquired gym, it's new name should be Pine Barrens. Then the new AD can hire a Czechoslovakian interior decorator to fix the place up.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Leahy realizes the financial benefit of cashing a $2mm UCLA check than paying $1mm for Bates to leave. I just hope that he further invests in another up-and-comer instead of listening to the insecure faction of the fan base and hire another Spaz because they are all butt hurt over someone choosing the Lakers over the Celtics.

No one wants what you said here, strawman. People said three things, Marty was great, UCLA sports is a dumpster fire which makes the move a mediocre one for Marty (great for UCLA) and traffic in LA is awful. None of that makes anyone insecure or means that people want Spaz because we're scared the Hafleys and Martys will leave. I hope they hire his clone and he stays three years.

Notre Dame has 1261 acres. BC now has about 385 acres after the Pine Manor acquisition. ND also has a little NBC contract. Georgia Tech is a more fair comparison (373 acres) and they have fewer sports than BC.
