A bunch of former players were there again this week including Flutie, Phelan, the kicker Snowe, Strachan, etc.
It was a good game, Thurman was a beast with 3 picks including a game saving one in the final minute, and Stratford had a big time run on the go ahead TD.

Alabama really fell apart in this one: Perkins blew it.

Seems like after Goode went down the offense fell apart.

Yes. I remember our TE getting his nose broke but I always thought it was Casperello (Sp?). I don't remember that Murphy guy at all.

Loving these Thursday night games!

I know Mike Ruth was only a junior in this game but he played like an animal out there. He really messed things up for Alabama's offensive line. Does anyone know if he started as a sophomore? I assume he did.

Thanks Hansen. It was fun watching this, as I never got to watch it originally as I had to attend a wedding. It was interesting how comparatively small everyone was compared to today. Mike Ruth, at nose tackle was 250 lbs. Troy Strafford when he came in weighed about 160 but got up to maybe 190. Most of the offensive and defensive linemen on both teams were well under 300 lbs.

was still the case when Coughlin was HC. Ron Stone was approx 300 lbs.

Goode goes down at 1:42. For some reason, I had remembered him going down on the opening kickoff of the second half, when he instead scored a 99yd return TD. Apparently I scrubbed that at some point. Great game.
