So looks like Roberts was announced and played yesterday. I had never heard of a player added this late in the season.

Welcome to BC, Max.

He looked really good in his limited appearance. Excellent speed coming off the edge.

ND's FB team has something like 1/3 testing positive and 1/2 in quarantine. They can't be playing anytime soon. Hafley keeps talking about it. But, the closeness of the team means it would spread like wildfire should anyone not be careful in their daily lives. That is why he keeps being impressed with the sacrifices the players are making for each other. They basically need to be lame in every social interaction.

Titans are now having an outbreak (which has also closed down the entire Vikings team who they just played).

Apparently, most of the quarantine cases will be free and ready to go by this Friday. They don't play until October 10th at Florida State. They had their first practice since the outbreak today and all indications are that they are going to play. The rumor on the ND boards at their are few starters in the lockdown at this point and given how absolutely putrid Florida State looks, if there are still 10-12 reserves still in lockdown on October 10, it isn't going to make much of a difference.

At what point does a team either have to play with their available players or forfeit?

Blackmon and Will Green were the two best athletes I have seen in my 25 years of going, but Flowers is the shiftiest and quickest dude I have seen at BC and it is not close. Alston was quick but he wasn't shifty. BRob was shifty, but he wasn't that fast.

This is true. Flowers has tons of potential, basically in his first year as a real WR

Jeff Smith (incorrectly utilized) was an incredible athlete.

Jeff Smith getting more catches in his first real NFL game for a historically shitty Jets team than he ever did against the ACC or MAC says a lot about the WR development that was going on here

What about the Jeff Smith from MA who had ~200 KR yards against Clemson in mid 000s?

One of the all-time shifty and quick guys was Troy Stradford. More moves than ex-lax.

Referring to big plays as "explosives", is that a thing in coaching circles? I found it annoying when Daz referred to "throw game" and "explosives", Hafley uses the term as well, per today's Zoom.

Yes. Explosive plays have been part of the vernacular for about 10-15 years. Jags was the first BC coach I recall regularly using it in press conferences.

SDCCU Holiday Bowl
SDCCU Stadium, San Diego
Bonagura: Washington vs. Boston College
Schlabach: Arizona State vs. North Carolina

Fenway Bowl
Fenway Park, Boston
Bonagura: Pittsburgh vs. SMU
Schlabach: Boston College vs. Memphis

I find it hard to believe they're playing Bowls this year beyond the CFP.

I find it hard to believe people are speculating on potential bowl projections 5 weeks into a season that may not even finish due to coronavirus. and even if it did, it's pretty dumb to project how teams are going to finish when they've played less than half their games.

The vote today or tomorrow is to remove the eligibility criteria for bowls. Basically, if you played football this fall, you became bowl eligible.

If there is a cap on attendance, or no attendance at all, then that might help BC in the selection process.

The last four teams on our schedule this year - Syracuse, ND, Louisville and Virginia - all did not look impressive this past weekend. That stretch is looking more manageable. We seem to have a "play to the opponent's level" style to us, so I would not call any of them easy. But I came into the season thinking our schedule was back end loaded, and I am now thinking it was more heavy in the games 3-7 stretch.

They'll play the bowl games, or at least a subset of them. ESPN needs something to put on the air between Christmas and New Year's when everyone is home with nothing to do.

On the basis of what? All the players, coaches, and fans who aren't dying? I would think the programs and the media companies would both want bowl games desperately for financial reasons.

I don't think they are supposed to demolish it until early next year. One last ride?

Nope. Safety concerns.
Aztecs are playing somewhere 100 miles north this season.

That ESPN article needs an update. It also has the Las Vegas Bowl still being played at Sam Boyd and not the new Raider stadium.
