How about Beekman and Rouse?

I lot of the players have been tweeting about Beekman. What's up?

Beekman has (or had) a non-coaching position (Director of Football Initiatives?). Rouse was assistant strength coach. Not sure if he still is.

I’m all for BC alums. But, you better get an experienced coach for OL and DL.

Sounds like Beekman will be back:

He was Director of Football Initiatives last year. Before that was an OL coach for 2 yrs at the juco level, and a grad assistant for 3 yrs before that.

Anyone know what the Director of Football Initiatives does?

Overlap with Matusz while at Ohio State.
Overlap with Tem and Hafley at the 49ers.

We should expect good news from Houston in the future.

Dana Bible is the QB coach...so yes.

So in terms of recruiting regions, NJ, NE, DC and Houston are covered?

It's incredible to me that following removal from the Oregon/Nike recruiting machine (that took care of recruiting mostly on its own), Chip may actually be a worse P5 HC than he was an NFL coach.

Jerry Azzinaro (DC under Henning), Dana Bible (OC under TOB) and Justin Frye (OL under Daz) are prominent members of the staff. Only other assistant worth noting is Paul Rhoads who was the Iowa State head coach, but was also the DC when Hafley was at Pitt. It seems that UCLA blew whatever budget they had on Chip's annual salary.

For one yr on Chip Kelly's SF staff they had:

Ryan Day
Tem
Hafley
Oghobaase

and

Bob Bicknell.

But I'm assuming any of the Bicknells are long shots, despite having plenty of exp as OL/TE coaches and an obvs connection to the university?

Matt Applebaum OL coach from Towson is the OL coach. Don’t really understand the connection or appeal other than maybe more presence in the DMV/NC area (he was at Davidson earlier).

Agreed. Given the prominent position at OLine U, I was hoping for a little more. Maybe he's a hidden gem, but he's the one that I need the most convincing on. I guess Hafley thought it was important to lockdown the who Wilbur Cross/84 region.

I think so.

This guy was with Traut at Davidson so maybe Haf tried to keep Traut and took a recommendation instead?

I know nothing about the guy but thought it was interesting in his comments that Hafley mentioned he thinks this guy is an overall great coach and says he’s a guy he thinks will be growing into a coordinator. To me that says a lot about his opinion of him so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt but the jury is obviously out on this one because quite frankly I doubt any of us know anything about him.

Looks like Applebaum got his start at Central Connecticut. There are a lot of Central Connecticut guys that overlapped with Haf at Albany. I would guess that is the connection.

If I had to guess, I think BC increased their pay for AAR and Dailey over previous position coaches. This might also be a buy-low guy to help balance the coaching staff budget.

i doubt this is a buy low decision, other than your coordinators and S&C coaches it's the most important position on your staff.

Not sure how I feel about the DL guy. The reports out of UCLA seem mixed about him.

Crazy young staff. Who knows how it plays out but I like the idea of hiring young enthusiastic coaches.

Jeff Hafley - 40

Frank Cignetti - 54
Joe Dailey - 35
Rich Gunnell - 33
Matt Applebaum - 34

Tem Lukabu - 38
Aazaar Abdul-Rahim - 42
Sean Duggan - 26
Vince Oghobaase - 32
