Week 15, Championship Week

Postby bcshater on Wed Dec 04, 2019 7:40 pm

Championship Week coming up. Have the feeling that there will be more blowouts than expected. Such as LSU beating up Georgia ( Go Dawgs though, sorry Darren ). Virginia will not keep it close with Clemson. Buckeyes will roll past the Badgers ( but not like the 59-0 blowout of the Badgers years ago ).

IDK about LSU and UGA. I expect that one to be closer than expected. The Georgia Dome (or whatever the new place is called now) will be 70% UGA fans. It would not surprise me to see Georgia come away with the win. And if that happens, where do you put LSU? Do they stay in the top 4 or do you leave them out of the playoff completely and let a 1-loss Utah, Oklahoma or Baylor slip in? To me, that's the most intriguing element heading into this weekend.

I don't think LSU would fall past #4. LSU would also rock the socks off of Utah/Baylor/Oklahoma. Utah needs Georgia to lose, to blowout Oregon, and Baylor/Oklahoma to be close to get in. I think Oklahoma or Baylor could leap frog Utah.

I don't think LSU would drop out either, but it would certainly set up a highly dramatic Selection Sunday.

LSU (and I think OSU) are in IRregardless of what happens this weekend.

There is a hell of a game tonight. Tonight's game might be the closest game of the weekend. Scratch that, I am saying tonight's game will be the closest game of the weekend.

Ohio State? Meh, no I think they need to win Claver. The reason why I say they MUST beat Wisconsin is because I can't imagine any possible scenario where the playoff committee will rank the second place team in the Big-T(14)N high enough to be in the playoffs when the Big-T(14)N champion is stuck in the Rose Bowl. By virtue of the transitive property, that makes no sense. So that is just not going to happen.

By the same token, I agree with you that LSU is safe. IMHO LSU is in the playoffs regardless because their opponent (if Georgia winds up being the SEC champion) absolutely IS in the playoffs. So it can be justified to drop LSU no further than to #4 in the country with a loss.

Thank you so much Claver. My mother is a wreck right now. I'm not doing that much better.

Apparently so.

Oregon looked awesome. I am stuck here in Pac-12 hell, no playoff berth for this conference.

I tuned in for the fourth quarter and it’s been entertaining
Also, we got a K recruit coming in. Hopefully, he will be the answer.

LSU 7 Georgia 0

LSU QB Joe Burrow appears to be the real deal. Never count Georgia out with QB Jake Fromm.

Kirby Smart has Georgia playing the football of 5-10 years ago. You can’t win a championship like this.

Fromm injured. Backup Stetson Bennett in. Will see if Fromm comes back in. Fromm really got pummeled a couple of times by LSU. 14-3 LSU.

Fromm is back in. Injured foot. See how this goes for the remainder of the game.

CBS announcers are making comparisons with Joe Burrow and Patriots QB Tom Brady. Burrow looks good but a little too early to make such a comparison.

LSU 17 -3 with 1:39 left in the 1st half.

Is Burrow playing like shit and blaming it on his wide receivers? If not, then the comparison is a weak one.

I jest but in truth thoroughly enjoy The Orgeron and I think media outlets have missed a major opportunity by not printing subtitles during his press conferences. The auto CC just doesn’t know what to do with his bayou accent. Every time I see him doing stuff on tv it makes me think of Polyphemus.

Burrow is playing well. The announcers are noting his athleticism, such as scrambling, and decision making ability such as when to go to non-primary receivers. Let's give this time before Burrow is being compared to a first ballot HOF'er.

Georgia kicker Blankenship has missed 2 FG attempts today. He doesn't seem to be having the year he had last year. His NFL draft stock is falling.

Currently 20-3 and LSU driving and inside the Georgia 10. I think it is safe to say that this game is over.

Suuuuper curious as to the ROTC link? One of my kids just finished The Odyssey for high school English class so I reread pieces of it, too, and it’s been on my mind a bit. The classics are classics for a reason, although I agree they can be a magnet for a certain class of douchery; I just like a good yarn here and there.

Long way to go in the game, but I think you'd have to give the 4th spot to Wisconsin.
