I find it so funny that Miami let Diaz go to Temple, then paid a $4 million buyout to hire him a week later, to being 6-5 having lost 3 games as 2+ TD favorites

Richt’s failing health made that possible. They did not expect his retirement. That said, they should’ve been able to do better than Diaz. Ultimately, Richt’s heart paved the way for a payday for Diaz, Temple and (soon) Daz.

Schools should learn from examples like Temple. Hire a great rising head coach. And, when he is stolen, the next school will be funding your next coach for two seasons. It’s a solid business if you aren’t a top program. I hope Jarmond follows suit. Go hire someone like Aranda, Venables or Hafley. Have them kickass for four years. And then collect a $10mm from LSU when they steal him.
