I think Whipple over Jags had the most support (though I don't think I really cared so long as the Supply Officer was gone). I was, however, a supporter of Daz over Spaz. In fairness to the Nexus, the Board Coaching Staff was not allowed to sit in on Diaco interviews. I truly believe Bates planned to hire Diaco until he talked to him and was like: "oh shit... now what?"

Speaking of previous searches... if ND follows through with the outrage du jour (and fires Brian Kelly to try to and Urban), I would have no problem taking their seconds (even with the ever-present risk to student life).

I have no idea what MoJ said a few years ago, I just wanted to lay a terrible fart in the elevator and walk out. You could use the search box to find this out but every time I type something in the search box it only returns the results for meatbomb.

No. Just no. Take him out of Notre Dame and he is the second coming of the Supply Officer. Hell, he is Notre Dame's version of the Supply Officer. And while he would be a huge upgrade over the past two hires, I would much rather we try and find a young up and comer. Kelly will ultimately murder your soul.

HJS does the same thing every time we have a vacancy. He compiles a list of every living human who has ever coached or played football/basketball, posts their names as possible hires, and 5 years later picks out the successful ones, quotes himself mentioning them, and tells us he knew that's who we should have picked.

It's an above average troll, all things considered.

This illustrates the key difference between relative and absolute; while you are perhaps not wrong about this inequality on a relative basis, on an absolute basis, you're making it seem like you want to make teh juice with Brian Kelly. There has to be someone better out there. :chewbanka :chewbanka :chewbanka :chewbanka :chewbanka :chewbanka :chewbanka

While everyone can agree, the question really is whether BC can find and hire someone from that universe.

I don’t think under the current regime we would ever hire someone better than Kelly. And if he hadn’t been associated with ND, then Leahy prob wouldn’t even allow him to be considered. I honestly think those people out there that think we can REALISTICALLY do better then him are delusional. I wish this wasn’t the case but I’ve seen, read, or heard nothing to suggest otherwise. The commitment to athletics at Boston College just isn’t there right now.

Agree, but...
A. ND is not losing again this year (at least before their bowl game) so there's virtually no chance he's fired.
B. He'd never come here
C. We'd never pay him enough to come here

Kelly is not happening.

Much more useful to look at Marty’s non revenue hires and see what types he looks at.

Seems like the football coach will be young and within the ACC geographical footprint, if not the traditional BC OH, NJ, NY mold.

I showed some remarkable wisdom to state he would be terrible for BC... only to throw that away by following it up with him being a great candidate for an SEC school. Oops.

well that was some nice walk down memory lane

some gems:

HJS:
MISTAKES: Names who will be mentioned but are non-starters for me:
Don Brown
Ryan Day

1)
2)

Maxwell22: Suggested (Heard?) our current OC Bajakian
EA, 247, ESPN, Brett McMurphy, Blauds lists of 'insider info' were complete garbage
Brad Bates active on twitter during the search including claiming he'd 'drop hints'
A page worth of flight tracking!
TWB, 9903, HJS, myself all suggesting roman and diaco as the 2 candidates viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9896&hilit=Hansen&start=1770#p322272
Epstein & Matt The Eagle, bignick, civil aids, duschesne favoring diaco (i probably missed a bunch)
meter saying it'll be diaco if al golden turns it down (file this away as never listen to meter)
pictures of current austin peay head coach mark hudspeth's wife
atl was first to detect a mysterious (stranger) candidate
some random commenter on the land of misfit commenters was first to break daz it looks like: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9896&hilit=Hansen&start=2070#p322850

Hey remember they did a national search and found that the best candidate was right there under our nose the whole time? Surprised that didn’t work out, usually amazing coincidences like that do

I just want to know how hot Daz’s seat is. Is it a recently-sat-on chair, or a thatch chair engulfed in dancing flames?

6th hottest seat (according to this)

http://www.coacheshotseat.com/

According to his bosses who are in authority to decide this man's fate? Addazio's seat might be cold as ice, perfectly safe. Yakking with my sources (some of which have children at BC who may or may not know what is going on with the BOT) they seem to think that Father Leahy loves Addazio. :x
