2019-2020 Coaching Candidate Thread (this time for reals)

Mike Elko: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Elko
Jeff Hafley: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Hafley
Anthony Campanile: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Campanile

I truly believe we are making a change this year. I think the above will be among the finalists and will be shocked if the hire isn’t someone of very similar profile.

Wouldn’t mind Camp. Hafley seems like an obvious candidate, but wouldn’t excite me much. Elko is fairly interesting, but I think he’d have a tough time here.

We'll get Donnie Brown, fill in the corners and we're the next Clemson!

Darrin Chivarini - OC Colorado
checks a lot of boxes...young (41), good recruiter, good offensive philosophy
problem is that he’s a CU grad and was recently named assistant head coach, would probably take a lot to get him
No thanks on a “tough” “trenches” type coach

Or Al Golden... or Bill O’Brien... or Brian Flores... or Matt Patricia... all 4 of whom are likely looking for new jobs this winter.

Since this one is for real, and since Marty Moose has proven to be the same boring bureaucrat as his predecessors, I don’t think it’s worth the emotion to pretend that BC will make a stunningly good hire.

Schiano sucks but he would be an improvement over thin skin.

At this point, I'll take almost anyone. All your choices sound good to me. But unless I am mistaken, Jarmond gave Daz a contract extension 7 months ago so the school would be on the hook for a few more years at full salary. I don't think the BOT will allow Jarmond to terminate the man he just extended. But I don't know.....

His contract was extended to 2022 but I believe his buyout was not changed meaning if he got fired after this year he would only be owed 1 year.

BC never does retreads, but Bielema and Butch Jones should be considered. I think BC's a lot closer to Wisco/Cincy than the SEC.

We'll probably get Skip Holt/Jason Candle. And you laugh but they sell themselves so short, Doug Martin will probably get an interview (they're not so incompetent that he'll actually get the job.)

Even more likely, Dazzler improves the D, and the ACC suck so they squeeze out 6 or 7 wins and he's retained.

Mike Reed. He’s worked 6 years under one of best DCs in CFB and is obv an alum. See if he can take one of Clemson’s co-OCs with him. Let him bring in Washington or Campanile to run the defense.

I’d also say Bill O’Brien but that division looks like a joke this year so he should be able to scrape together a decent record and not be fired.

As to the Urban Meyer suggestion above, I realize it’s likely in jest, but I would assume he would never do it to replace this idiot/his friend.

This is accurate re: buyout. A guy who sits next to me at stadium says he heard from a fairly reliable source that it is an “extension in name only”, done simply for recruiting and to financially protect BC. Very little, if anything, was changed with compensation and Addazio was told basically anything under 8 wins will be it this year.

If this is true, then Great.

Jarmond, if you read this board, please get him the fuck out of here. And while you are at it, pull the plug on Jim Christian.

This is Very important, the guy who gave you the information on the buyout, who heard it from a friend of his, did he sit on the right or left side from you? With that information I think we can make clear assumptions on the details of the contract. Without that critical information this is all wishful thinking.

Go Eagles!

Hes on the right and has a FB scholarship endowed under his name, a BOT member is on the left. Why dont you stay in your lane and stick to stadium construction and drooling over 65 year old life long coordinators from Worcester

I’d take any of them over the gym teacher, but I don’t think Miami will fire Flores after gutting the team before the season started. They won’t be good next year, either, so why pay for two coaches?

My guess it will be Big Al and I would be fine with that. Bring back Camp as the DC and--this is obviously a fantasy--bring Paul Pete in as the OC. I have no idea if they'd be any good as a coaching staff--although I expect they would recruit well--but at least I wouldn't hate the football coach coming in, which would be a first since Jags left.
