Pac-12 defenses suck. With the rare exception of USC every couple/three years getting the unusual freak defensive end, Pac-12 defenses have ALWAYS sucked. Its almost like the coaches on the West Coast refuse to even acknowledge that such a thing as defense exists, so they won't be recruiting for it. And whoever doesn't make their lights out, unbelievable high scoring offense, they just stick those bodies on the defense.

Well, we have an exception to the West-Coast-no-defense rule. Last night I watch Utah disembowel BYU in Provo on ESPN. That is a seriously good defense. That line is unbelievably good. I don't think they stand much of a chance of stopping Alabama or Clemson on offense, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Pac-12 snuck into the playoffs this year with a 12-0 Utah assuming the Utes can go up to Seattle and beat Washington.

While this isn't the dumbest thing you have ever written, it is up there. While the PAC 12 has had a few down years defensively, Washington, Arizona, Utah and Stanford have had historically good defenses. And since you say "always" I'd point out that Arizona and Washington were the two most dominant defenses of the 1990s and statically speaking the two best defenses in college football history (with the possible exception of (a) Frank Leahy's 1946-49 Notre Dame teams or (b) the 1966 Notre Dame and Michigan defenses).
