Mich has offered 11 Mass kids! I guess they have decided to make New England the focus of their recruiting and enjoy getting curbstomped by Ohio St.

Michigan fans aren't pleased by the focus out in Mass. They agree that it is a shitty way to keep up with OSU, which recruits at the level just below Clemson.

Our last DE recruit from Mansfield Mass worked out pretty well...

Yeah, what happened to him? Was that an injury thing, like Jim Unis?

No. Jim Unis was a great football player who got injured. Eason was a terrible football player who got exposed. Let’s be honest, the hit rate on Mass players who leave for a factory is terrible.

Is it incorrect to say that quite a few 4* recruits ended up not working out? Yikes.

02:
Unis
Moore
Jeremy Simpson (?)

03:
Bryant
Poles (injured later)

05:
Sheil
Andre Jones(?)

06:
McMichael

07:
Eason
Elliot (Jumbo's kid)

08:
Haden
Goodman

09:
Quinn

I wouldn’t say McMichael was very good. Ton of potential. He was a top recruit (think we got him over Oklahoma if I remember right) but he was always injured. I wouldn’t say bust, but never lived up to potential.

Making the top whatevers for these guys is better than not making them. But being the team of choice at the end is the true litmus. Won’t be excited about being the second to last hat the kid picks up. I want to be the hat the kid puts on his head. Until then, I’m reserving judgment on the staff. They are out there hustling and offering, there’s no question. But I want them closing.

Unis: Played as a true FR then never again (concussions);
Moore: was way over rated, bust before he ever set foot on campus;
Simpson: never played, a back issue I believe. Heard he would have been a super star.
Bryant: Pie-Charts did not sign with BC.
Poles: Very good OL, career ended with a torn Achilles at ND.
Scheil: never started a game, believe he tore his pec before his last season.
Jones: academics, never enrolled at BC.
McMichael: hardly played, some sort of hip issue IIRC.
Eason: for the life of me I cannot remember this kid at BC.
Elliott: never played, retired due to injury (back?).
Haden: Came in with Montel Harris who was better. Left after his second year. Seemed like a punk but probably would have been productive in Logan's offense.
Goodman: The St. E's butcher took care of him. What was supposed to be a clean up for minor knee injury left him with permanent nerve damage.
Quinn: Anyone that was paying attention knows what the issue with this kid was.

You could have included 5 star Brian Toles who never really recovered from an injury while playing fullback.

Out of curiousity, was the last recruiting class of Coughlin good and were Henning's first 2 classes as good? Was a diff recruiting landscape in the mid 90s, no? iirc, Henning got us a few recruits from Virginia. VA's usually a recruiting hotbed for a host of other schools, but not for us, always found that odd. And until recently, I've felt Maryland was relatively inaccessible recruiting-wise.

We didn't get an OLB in the last two classes so you would think that would be a high priority.

Yes, but maybe the Wuhan Virus could adversely effect the recruiting efforts of a new coach?

If they're going to go that way, "Boston's College" is better. Both are rather lame though.

Article on Drew Kendall, Pete's son (apparently his mom went to BC too). Rivals has him as a top 100 guy. Never want to put too much of an emphasis on one player but really should be a guy we land.

Pete was a great guy... wicked smart. He chose BC over ND. So, I don't think he is someone who will be pushing his kid to factory. I haven't talked to Pete in years, but my guess is that BC is well positioned. If we miss out on Drew, I think it will be to a school with a strong academic reputation (Duke, Stanford, UVA, etc).

He has two other kids at Ivies (both at Penn I think?).
In my opinion, Pete was the best OL ever at BC.

Also, Hafley must build a wall around the ISL!
