Is this class not following the exact pattern of Daz's first class?

Daz had the 42nd ranked class in 2014 on rivals was 51st in the composite. Had a star ranking of 2.68 with 28 commits. Looking at the offers the group had 61 other P5 offers over the 28 commits and only 12 of those 28 had other P5s. About half of the 61 came from 2 players.
2021 has 10 commits its currently 32nd on rivals once Coleman is added it will be 28th in the composite on 247. Has a star rating of 2.8 with a kicker on rivals. Also Porters rating is a joke but that’s irrelevant for now things will change by signing day. However the offers are where things start to separate the two classes. Only 10 commits already have 43 P5 offers and all but the kicker have at least 1 other P5.

Daz's class was definitely in the top 25 overall during the early part of the cycle because he got a lot of signings early

How sure are you that Daz's guys didn't have other offers? Maybe the recruiting databases just did a crappier job recording it all in 2014. That's not my recollection of that class at all.

I’m pretty sure. Now he did a good job identifying in that class it looks good looking back but most of those guys didn’t have P5 offers(Sweeney,Schwab,Merritt,Moore,Yiadom) but on paper the quality of offers wasn’t even close.

Daz had a very good class and it started early. It wasn't this good and he didn't have to deal with lockdown and zero travel. BC is a school that usually does pretty well if they can get kids on campus.

the average player in this class seems higher than the last few Daz classes but I feel we lack a headliner: a harold landy or aj dillon type.

Whens the last time we brought in a JUCO? Offer out to Jaylon Griffin from Texas. Kid can ball would be an instant impact right away with how our WR been playing lately.

Landry blew up after committing to BC and AJD was much later. If I recall, AJD committed to BC simultaneous with his Mich de-commit and I think it was some time after the football season.

yeah, I believe Landry committed really early. I believe he was the first commit of his class and then he got others to be a dude.

In some ways the lockdown could be weirdly helpful because it will weight the scales towards the best coaches, rather than the facilities arms race, parties, bagmen, or whatever which we don't compete in.

Odd considering Daz said numerous times the JUCO level was basically a no-go for BC.

Codi Boek was JUCO. I think he was the last one. Lenny Walls and Paul Peterson were some from the TOB era but both were atypical recruits since Peterson was old and only a JUCO because of his mormon mission and Walls already had a brother at BC.

Are we out of the running? This is one mass kid I really wanted us to sign.

They really aren’t that high on this MA class for the most part.

Definitely appears so. Pitcher, Stewart, Ugbaja and Baptiste had Daz offers (did Lockett?) but not from JH.
Looks like I am in the minority here but I think not being able to land players from Mass (that BC wants) is not a good thing.

Kendall,Stewart,Hansen,Pitcher,Ugbaja,McGowan,Baptiste,Guy,Phinney,Roach had offers from Daz. Only Kendall,Hansen,McGowan,Guy still had them under Hafley. Hafley also offered Russell. So 5 MA offers right now in the cycle and I’ll say even within that 5 there’s some conflicting thoughts on one of those guys. 2022 doesn’t look too strong instate early but without spring evals and most likely camps that’s not too much of a surprise. 2023 looks pretty strong early though including what looks like a couple really good QBs.

I'm going to guess the historic hit rate on trying to recruit kids from Nebraska to BC is low

I'd be willing to bet the hit rate is 0% for ones who also hold Nebraska offers. I'll let bceagles24 confirm that...

TE Jordan McMichael? I think he chose BC over Nebraska. Pretty highly rated TE but injuries got the best of him.

Wasn’t he from Minnesota? The question is whether we ever beat Nebraska for a kid from Nebraska.

My bad, misread it. Yes he was from MN. Breck HS I think?

Daz had Don Brown recruiting the defensive players for the first 3 years. Yiadom is a great story coming from Worcester and making it to the NFL. Love to see the local recruits soar! Get in Drew Kendall!

Go Eagles!

Yeah I’m pretty sure I can confirm that.....however they came relatively close this year with top 100 CB Avante Dickerson they finished top 5 and Nebraska writers were actually saying bc was the school to watch. He loves Haf ended up committed to Minnesota without ever seeing campus so could still be one to watch.

Both of these guys were well worth the effort. We should be targeting Catholic schools as much as possible. Well worth the side trip from say Chicago/St. Louis or an area like that. As for Dickerson, Hafley had already been recruiting him for OSU and he had the DB guru hook to use. Going forward I'm guessing any "Nebraska" recruiting will be at the Catholics specifically unless there's some other pre-existing hook.

I thought this was interesting. Russell, in deciding to go to Wake, said that he was thankful for BC recruiting him but "I definitely wanted to venture out a bit." https://www.si.com/college/bostoncolleg ... llege-high
Conversely, Haarberg said that his decision came down between Nebraska and BC. "But I just can't see myself living in Boston."
