ESPN Bowl projections

On ESPN one guy has us in Detroit vs Michigan State. His counterpart has us in the Military bowl versus Temple (I don’t think this second guy did all of his homework).

I think the CBS bowl projections have us going to El Paso to play The Fighting Herm Edwards.

Hopefully, we won't end up in Detroit as we were only there two years ago.

As far as the potential Military Bowl matchup with Temple, I would hope the selection committees would avoid making a repeat regular season matchup, but I guess it is still a possibility. If memory serves me correctly, Army and North Texas played each other twice in 2016.

Based on what I read in today's Herald, seems like the Sun Bowl really likes us:

Boston College a possibility for Sun Bowl in El Paso

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/college/2018/11/boston_college_a_possibility_for_sun_bowl_in_el_paso

BC never has played in the Sun Bowl, and Olivas thinks it would be a good pick to represent the ACC against a Pac-12 opponent, possibly the winner of Saturday’s game between Stanford and California. The Sun Bowl committee will announce its selections Dec. 2.

“Almost any team from the East Coast is great for El Paso,” Olivas said. “I know it is a long way for the ACC (fans) to travel down to El Paso, but 80 percent of our tickets are bought locally so they like to see these name schools play in our game.

“The way the ACC works, we are in a pool. N.C. State played in the Sun Bowl last year, so they will be out of our picture, which opens it up for Boston College. They have never been to our bowl and would be a good choice for us.”

Note - in the early 80s they tried to make a theme song to the "Sun Bowl" based on the "Love Boat" song:

Sun, exciting and new
Come aboard, were expecting you
Sun, football's sweetest reward
Let it flow, it floats back to you
Sun Bowl ....soon will be making another run
The Sun Bowl... promises something for everyone
Set a course for adventure
Your mind on a new romance...

I hope they bring that back if we are selected...

This will be big for all the alums in El Paso. I'm sure they could fill up a row

The guys on the team wanted a warm weather game so I'm glad that they will be able to get that. The seniors on this team turned this program around from a steaming dumpster fire to a respectable 7-5. This will be a nice reward / break from the shitty New England weather.

It's not going to be warm in El Paso in late December. It's likely to be freezing cold

I'd consider upper 50/ lower 60s during the day warm compared to what Boston will be providing.

Notre Dame played Miami there a few years ago and it was below freezing. Miami, as you can guess, got blown out and spent most of the entire game desperately trying to get next to the sideline heaters. With that said, it is one of the oldest bowls and I’m sure the kids will be excited for the “skateboard with Beto O’Rourke” in a Whataburger parking lot and the “Decapitated Head Rolling Contest” in Juarez that the bowl committee puts on. Very good, exciting stuff.

It's snowed at this bowl game multiple times I've watched.

I like the yearly shot of the people sitting on the side of the mountain watching the game because they did not want to buy tickets to get into the stadium .

Brett McMurphy is tweeting that Virginia Tech is going to the Military Bowl. Kind of surprising, since I thought 6-6 teams would be destined for either Birmingham or St. Pete. So, looks like we're either El Paso or Detroit bound.

Saw that too. Highly doubt we'd go to Nashville. Brett McMurphy has us going to Detroit and CBS has us in El Paso. So I guess it is a crap shoot at this point.

A 7-5 team doesn’t get to feel disappointed about which bowl it ends up in. A team like Cuse getting skipped over by Orlando does. Daz is a perfect fit for Detroit. However, for the player’s sake, I’d like to see them someplace else.

The people of Detroit will hear “rock” and “crack” and immediately take a liking to Daz. :whammy

Official: Bama-Clem-ND-Okla

Bama opens as 14 point favorite, Clemson 11.5.

I’d take Bama and ND.

Some last minute shuffling going on w/ACC bowls, sources told
@WatchStadium
. Looks like Syracuse now to Camping World, Miami to Pinstripe, NC State to Gator, Pitt to Sun, Virginia to Belk

So... in other words... Detroit Rock City vs a Big10 or a free agent (don’t think they’re getting the MAC this year).
