I think it helps. The only way we get into the CFP is massive fuckery anyway, and this at least knocks RCC down the bowl pecking order.

I think we're pretty much locked out of the CFP with two losses. Too many teams sitting undefeated or at 1 loss. If we win out we'd still need another loss from Clemson, Michigan, Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, Wazzu, WVU, Ohio State. Even if all of those teams somehow end up with two losses we're not winning a tie break with any of them.

Where it could help us is with the bowl pecking order. If Clemson wins tomorrow, should BC take care of business against FSU and Syracuse we'll most likely end up being the 2nd ranked team in the ACC (which tells you how bad the ACC was this year). I think that locks us into the Camping World Bowl (formerly Champs Sports). Had RCC beaten Wake and won out, they'd likely finish ahead of us.

All the other ACC bowl selections are done in conjunction with the conference, bowls and schools, so who knows what kind of shenanigans will happen there. BC actually gets screwed this year with the Orange Bowl hosting the playoff. Assuming Clemson gets into the CFP, the Orange Bowl would have been obligated to take the 2nd highest ranked ACC team. Which means we could have finally made the Orange Bowl this year, even with a powerhouse Clemson and not winning the ACC.
