Why BC doesn’t run more pick plays is beyond me. You have three guys in Smith, Walker and White who can gain solid YAC in pick crosses and slants. Aside from picks, when is the last time we utilized comeback routes?

I don’t know if the staff doesn’t trust the kids to execute or their pass playbook is based more on diverse formations than diverse plays. Either way, it’s the OC’s fault.

I’m not sure how you can have a long week to prepare and not have an offensive game plan against a stacked box. You have a top notch back, obviously the opponents game plan is going to stop that first.

Hate to say it but Glines looked good in his two runs there.

The dude angling that stupid drum was playing linebacker that series.

Can’t make judgements against the 4th string.

This game reminded me of the Falcons Week 1. Weird/ bad play calling, an absurd amount of penalties, best players off their game, and making the opponent look better than they are.

True but Glines lowered his shoulders and kept his pads parallel when running inside which AJ didn’t. AJ has been great but he is running to upright between tackles, not keeping his pads parallel to line and he is looking to bounce everything. He needs to stop trying to score on every carry and play like a big back. If he has better fundamentals running inside, the big plays will come in 4th quarter when the defense is tired and hurting.

This isn’t hard. It’s big back 101.

BCMurt09 {l Wrote}:I’m sorry but I cannot get last the down knee touchdown which was reviewed and held up as a touchdown. That’s the difference between being down 9 and down 16 at the half.

Purdue has also benefitted from some very generous spots of the ball. They have been noticeably short a few times and given the first down.

But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

The officiating was dreadful but it didn’t change the result

Agree

1. this team wasn’t as good as people thought after the wake win and we aren’t as bad as people think after this Purdue loss.
2. Today’s game was an aberration; this team is going to win 8-10 games in spite of coaching.
3. Defense played better today but the OL/rest of the offense regressed.
4. Walker had a good game, special teams was better but PATs are still an adventure.
5. Brown was awful and needs to get a lot better. I don’t think he’s the answer at QB.
6. Dillon wasn’t good when we really needed him to step up. 19 carries, 59 yards.
7. Coaching was bad. Never made enough adjustments.

And so ends 10-2 season! It lasted, for some of us, until week 4 which was refreshing.

Welcome back 7-6 season!

But I fear 4-8 season could be hiding around the corner. The lines looked bad, on both sides of the ball. OL can't open lanes for the run and the DL can't stop the run. Dillon looks like he's paid too much attention to Dazs best-in-the-nation smoke up the ass and has stopped running. Brown making bad decisions, missing open receivers and receivers dropping catchable balls.

And the coaches had 10 days to put this gameplan together.

Walker was the only bright spot today. Way to bounce back from the error last week. Great game.

Can only hope this is a Wake up call. There's too much talent on this team for these kinds of results. Back to work. Iron out the kinks against Temple and we're still 1-0 in ACC play.

I do understand the aberration argument - officiating, Purdue is not an 0-4 team, Brown and Dillon's performance.

But at the end of the day, Daz is a below average coach.

At best, this team is still an unknown commodity. The QB is still inexperienced and it showed as things went south today. The OLINE by all expectation should be solid, but expectation doesn't cut it. They remain unproven until they do it. And no, doing it against Umass and HC mean dadda.they were essentially dominated all day..the defense looks less than expected, especially the dline. Then, what else needs to be said about the coaching. After Brown went back in after throwing the INT into double coverage in the endzone, it proved once again to me Addazio's limitations as a coach who can't win on a consistent basis. The game at that point had all the earmarks of a lost cause unless something seismic stsrted happening, and Brown was showing no capability to produce that change. And yet, there he was, back behind center.
Every decent coach I have even seen who wants to win makes a change, because, shit, what more do we have to lose?? Even a risk averse pussy like Addazio can sense impending defeat...or maybe not, since this is the coach awhile back, when asked why he punted away trailing late in a game said he thought he had the best chance of winning with his DEFENSE on the field. Utter genius.

I will say that most people on these boards saw the holes in the 3-0 start, and they were glaring. Particularly on the lines, where neither side seemed to have figured out the run. The 10-2 crowd hoped BC could stay undefeated while figuring things out, grateful for the backloaded schedule.

But they haven't figured it out. 3-1 is a good start, but all the remaining ACC games (except maybe Louisville), look losable if they don't figure it out.

Even a so-so BC fan absolutely at minimum has to operate on one basic assumption: we have a very below-average coach and he will never, ever become a better coach. And you can never forget that. Once you operate on that one principle, results on the football field make sense and none of us have to overreact.

After today, do you think BC will get to anything more than 6 or 7 wins? And even that might be a stretch despite a horrible ACC. This was an inexcusable performance in year 6.

Didn't get an ounce of help from the refs either, not that it would have made a different with how shit we were

If Dillon continues to bounce every run outside he’ll be pretty useless. Fortunately I’ve never seen him do that before today
