The Pinstripe would be the best option.

Anyone remember the good old days when all the games were on New Years and almost all of them in decent locations.

I remember how BC played in Hawaii every once in a while for the Hula Bowl the day after (or of) Christmas. It was supposed to be the first bowl game of the season, long before they started playing Bowl games on December 15th (yuck.) Hula Bowl worked out well because (as we all know) there are just not enough BC alumni and the few that there are, don't travel well to bowl games. And the Hula Bowl didn't expect much of BC. The stadium was virtually empty and well, that was fine. Just send the team and that is about it.

As far as I'm concerned, there are only 5 or maybe 6 bowls that matter (Orange, Fiesta, Rose, Sugar, Jerryworld) and most of them are either on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, or the week after (national championship.) The rest? Meh. Detroit, Shreveport, Yankee Stadium, Nashville, Charlotte, its all the same. Bowlshit.

We played in the Aloha Bowl. The Hula bowl was an all-star game.

So far no real movement.
I have seen in the last 24 hours:
2 predictions for Pinstripe vs Iowa
1 for Shreveport vs UCLA
1 for Military Bowl vs Navy

I've seen an oddball projection here and there over the last couple weeks of us in the Sun Bowl. Pretty sure that's going to end up being Louisville though.

I think our fate will be tied to the Belk Bowl. If they take State, we will land in the Bronx. If they take Wake, RCC will clown-up the Pinstripe and we will be in lovely Shreveport. From a pure tourist perspective as to "places I'd like to visit in late December," the ACC has the worst destinations: El Paso, Shreveport, Detroit, Bronx, Annapolis. Effing Charlotte somehow doesn't even make the bottom 5. If Cleveland ever gets a bowl, I'm sure Swoffy will be there first call.

I went up for the Syracuse game. The unofficial word from the BCAD is that it will be the Pinstripe or Sun Bowl. BC would prefer the Pinstripe, but the Sun Bowl is considered a good bowl spot. I'm not sure why, but I've been to Juarez so maybe I'm biased.

In fairness, what bowls want to be affiliated with the ACC and its small fan bases such as BC, Duke, Wake Forest, Cuse, Pitt, etc? After Clemson, FSU, VT, and perhaps NCSU, it's slim pickings for these ACC affiliated bowls. Maybe BC is good for TV ratings once in a while, but the bowls want to sell as many tickets as possible.

We've been playing cat and mouse with the Sun Bowl since Daz got here, so would not be shocked if this was the year. Evidently the Sun Bowl's prestige is derived from it being one of the oldest bowl games in the country. It is tied for second with the Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl, behind only the Rose Bowl. Georgetown playd in the 1950 Sun Bowl and Villanova in the 1961.

I like many of us am hoping for the Pinstripe Bowl. I think they know we bring a good crowd too.

I will, as always, pass on a baseball stadium in the Bronx as a bowl destination in late December. Detroit can go fuck itself as well.

El Paso and Shreveport are shitty destination, but at least they are trying. More FLA and/or SoCal bowls, and get SF back dammit.

Not a good weekend for BC's bowl prospects. ND lost and fell out of the major bowl slots. VT won. Louisville won. Duke won. FSU is still alive. BC wants Pinstripe but I think they are expecting Detroit or Shreveport again. El Paso would be better than those two.

I can blame the bowls. They are a poor man's IOC or FIFA. They destroyed their own system due to each bowl exec's greed. A great example of this is Catlett and the Gator Bowl (which went from a top notch New Years Day bowl to a complete also-ran called the TaxSlayer). They would've done much better worrying about their brand (via quality of match-up) than the short-term ticket sales. All that said, from a BC perspective, the ACC bowl affiliations are fine because those 5 crappy-locale bowls all are happy to grab BC (or Pitt, Cuse, Wake, Duke). The only time we will have a problem is if we ever win 10 games again.

Why does Duke winning mean anything? They are bowl eligible, but only 6-6 (doesn't that mean they have to wait behind the 7-5 teams). Further, Duke travels worse than us, so no one is going to grab them over better teams for a box office bonanza.

Clemson/Miami to the playoffs
Miami/Clemson to the Orange
ND to the best ACC bowl (Tampa or Orlando)
VTech to whatever the next best bowl is (Jacksonville)
RCC/Ville both 8-4 and travel so they get the next 2 bids (Charlotte/El Paso)
Wake/BC both 7-5 and don't travel (Shreveport/Bronx)

Non-winning teams: UVA, Duke, FSU, possibly GTech
Some random mix of Annapolis, Detroit, St. Petersburg and Birmingham

So long as a 6-6 FSU team can't be picked by something like TaxSlayer, I think if BC is going to Bronx unless Wake gets the Belk. I think BC goes to El Paso if ND gets the Cotton. Essentially, it looks like BC is in play for El Paso, Bronx or Shreveport. If 6-6 teams can jump ahead of winning teams, than I think we land in Annapolis.

I’ll have to agree here. There is no appeal to a vast number of these places.

There’s a 0% chance I’m going to El Paso

This has always been my complaint. Really, is there a worse bowl location than Shreveport? At least DETroit is easy to get to. The ACC needs bowls in S. FLA, New Orleans & Vegas.
Annapolis is actually a very nice place to visit, just not in December.

I’m going to guess El Paso is just as bad as Shreveport but point taken.

Sun Bowl has a bigger payout than Pinstripe, but we don't see any of that $$, no? Goes into the ACC coffers and split evenly, iirc.

Prefer the Pinstripe myself, just a short subway ride away for me.
