That said, if he leaves, I have confidence that Daz will bring in a quality replacement. Daz has done a very good job while at BC finding quality assistants. This likely comes from him being a well-liked, known quantity in the coaching fraternity. Further, with all his considerable faults, Daz is legitimately an excellent OLine coach. Saban/Harbaugh/Meyer would all hire him in a heartbeat (and give him some sort of Assistant Head Coach title) to coach their OL. If Daz has less time planning for gameday because he is being more hands-on with the OL... that is probably to the betterment of everyone.

yes - there have been no complains about the o-line in frye's 5 years here. he's been an excellent coach that certainly drove the strength of the offense for all of his tenure. it's totally because of him and his 5 years of stellar o-line play that we're the school known as o-line u

3 of 5 years they had an elite rushing attack.

Why are you trying to talk football to someone who doesn't even like sports?

Kevin Sumlin got the Arizona State job (as expected and hoped for by their fans).

It is the University of Arizona. Arizona State got Herm Edwards. Neither are good choices and neither are particularly good at coaching football. Arizona should have just asked Dick Tomey to come out of retirement. Anyone who wins ten games at SJSU can win in Tucson.

In my mind, ASU and Zona are different campuses of the same party school. Apologies for the confusion. I like Sumlin... always have. But, RichRod and Graham were good coaches too. That said, both programs have underperformed. No excuse for a school with no academic requirements for even the regular gen-pop student to struggle getting athletes with zero interest in skoolin’.

Shouldn’t you be ranting over on the basketball board about St Bonnie’s after our latest big basketball win?

Sumlin is a very good coach

Sumlin's probably not as bad as he seemed at A&M. He's probably served better by not being at a place that has lower expectations for themselves so it won't look as bad when he can't beat USC/make it to the Pac-12 title game on a yearly basis.

Kiffin hired Charlie Weis Jr to be his OC. While the players on the field have to be the best of the best in relatively objective measurements (hits ball farthest, runs fastest, etc), coaching may have some of the worst cronyism of any industry around.

Which is a shocking development from the son of Monte Kiffin.

Is it possible to unlaminate a resume, or would it just be better to just start fresh? Asking for a friend.

He was already co-offensive coordinator. Now, he is offensive coordinator. Note that Kevin Wilson is not being demoted and is also offensive coordinator. Essentially, there is no change in HCRD's responsibilities. So, while Kevin Wilson is still calling the shots (like last year), HCRD will no longer be sullied by "co-" in his title. That would be a really crappy deal for a coach who allegedly turned down Tennessee OC and the chance to work with the player his mentor (Chip Kelly) was willing to gamble his entire career on.

Also per Bruce Feldman, Chip Kelly has hired Deep Sea Dana as QBs coach at UCLA.

the campanile rumor seems to be fake news (or at least we don't need to worry about it anymore)

Minnesota hired a coach from ASU :shock to be their db coach

The Minnesota rumor never made sense. He didn't overlap with Fleck... neither as a player or coach (Fleck was only in Piscataway from 2011-2012). Also, Chestnut Hill is the furthest away from Fair Lawn he's ever been (i.e. no particular connection to that area of the country). Finally, the offer was never to be coordinator (only HCRD would turn down such a chance to remain a position coach).

Now, I could see a panic move if Dazoo was close to being fired. But, Daz's seat is colder than leaving your wife and kids because you knocked-up and butterface cheerleader.

Not really. Sumlin is a slightly above average coach who was given unlimited resources at A&M, lucked into a Heisman Trophy QB and still was basically a 9-4/8-5 coach. He will find that he enjoys almost none of those advantages in Tucson--although he might have a Heisman candidate at QB, which is probably why he got hired.

As for the Bonnies, nope, there is nothing more to be said although I did get a great story from Schmidt on Butt Cutt's coaching search that saddled us with Jimmy C. It was actually worse than I even imagined.

This may have an impact on recruiting.
http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index ... h_nun.html

Nunzio Campanile (Bergen Catholic head coach) is leaving to be Rutgers' RB coach. His brother, Seton Hall Prep's head coach (Vito Campanile), and Dan Sabella (Paramus Catholic head coach) are rumored to be front runners. I won't be surprised to see Toal take the gig if he's contractually able.

What happened to the patriots defense yesterday? Or even the eagles for that matter.
It was like a WAC game last night.

Agree with the article that if he turns down the Colts, it is because he has been told that Beliceck would be announcing his retirement (which I guess could include after next season).

The same as the rest of the year. They weren't actually good.
