CowboyEagle22 {l Wrote}:Addazio is coming back next year. The generally positive response, from the fans that matter, last Friday settled the issue. Unless Addazio robs a bank or shows up naked in the dorms, he's safe. The focus for now is on basketball.

As far as an extension, that's not happening and that comes from Leahy. The disposition of Addazio's contract will be a next year issue. If someone hires him away, so be it.

What happens if he shits the bed and only beats UConn to close out the season? 6 and 6 (or 7 with a bowl loss) means he's back?

Daz is back next year. Period. End of story. Was always the case. If he leaves, it is on his own accord.

Marty was tasked to address basketball this year. Daz was always a backburner issue (partly because his tenure has not be a spectacular failure and partly because of his contract).

Eddie George was in that game, too.

Daz has done what he needed to do to keep his job. We all thought he was out the door because none of us expected to beat these last three. He's safe and I would say that even if he loses out which would be shocking.

Basketball is a more interesting issue because the team might not suck this year. If Jimmy Gru somehow shows moderate improvement he might be back next year too.

Daz wins out, he will get offers. Only one losing season in 5 years and that was mostly due to injuries at QB. Time to sell the car, let's take it to the cah wash! Daz would be a huge loss! Looks better already! Daz to UF, what a steal by those Gators!

Oh, no Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin...don’t hire away Coach Addazio! Also don’t throw Brer Rabbit into the briar patch!

I'm happy to see Daz doing a lot of radio this week despite having a bye. This is where he excels.

I know he has the teacher schtick down and would have his choice of any OLine gig in college football... but I expect his next job (after retiring as head coach of Florida) will be at ESPN.

interesting that fuentes' name is coming up a lot for these big opportunities. makes sense as he's a good coach (curb stomped daz 2x) but is uf much better of a job than vt?

at vt you're in the soft division & your cross over is us which means you play clem or fsu once every 3 years.

at uf you go to a place that tossed a coach in year 3 who went to sec champ game in first 2 years

Florida is easily one of the best 10 jobs in college football. Fuentes wouldn't think twice about leaving Blacksburg in the review mirror. I assume that they will hire Chip Kelly and he will have them back at Spurrier level (where they score a lot but give up a ton of points). But, if they don't go in that direction it will be interesting to see what they do (perhaps looking at a familiar face from Urban's era). Which brings to the real question... would Daz even leave when he has a loaded team returning and a Wisconsin-like schedule??? To the first point, the only players that see any time who are leaving are: Kam Moore, Harold Landry, Ty Schwab, Thadd Smith and Isaac Yiadom. Now, they are all very good players who are having a big impact. But, with Schmal, Merritt, Strachan and Baker all coming back, the team will be pretty effing loaded (given the monster size of the junior class).

Florida is a better job than VT. The SEC is tough and has its arms race but there is more money at Florida and more local talent. Saban will probably start to slip in the next few years.

Daz would leave BC so fast in Florida offered it would make your head spin. His agent will reach out to them if he hasn’t already.

The mere mention of Florida hiring Cap't Catsup may be one of the dumbest things ever posted here (non-Betardo division). Different AD from when he was there, plus their fan base HATES him already. That being said, I would love to see it happen for many reasons.

Lets not forget that after a 6 win season a majority of our fans were worried we would lose Addazio to Michigan.

So... Butch Jones is done at Tennessee. It's a real good year NOT to be looking for a new coach given all these major jobs that are open.

Looking at the Vols roster, I don't see any possible recruits or transfers. We simply fish in the same pond (for better or worse). One exception... JARRETT GUARANTANO. He's a RSF 4-star QB out of Bergen Catholic. His dad was a very good WR for Rutgers in the early 90s. He chose Tennessee because his dad knew Butch Jones from when he was an assistant on Doug Graber's staff. With Jones gone, have to assume Guarantano isn't far behind. Rutgers would be the likely landing spot. However, given the connection to Camapanile, I can see BC being a factor.

There is nothing wrong with exploring folks that shouldn't want your program... but Gruden to college is pretty ridiculous. Even if he was to make the move, there is no guarantee he would be awesome (or come close to unseating Saban). There is also a strong likelihood that he would be gone in less than 2 years.

All these programs really need to sit down and make a sober assessment of what they are, what they want to be and how long they are willing to wait to get there. Outside of paying Grudog $12mm per year, I think they should consider someone like Les Miles who could come in and stabilize the program at a 9-win level. He wouldn't be a long term answer, but he's the type of hire that you get to set the next coach up for elite success. Otherwise, they should land a young up-and-comer and prepare themselves for a 3-year bumpy road while he implements his new scheme.

Looks like the ever-expanding waistline of Bret Bielema needs to find a new Golden Corral. Jeff Long (Arkansas' AD) was just fired... seems that Bielema will be next.
