That's plenty of time for Leahy to screw this up.

Who the hell is coming up with this fake timeline? BC is going to rightfully interview multiple folks (including alums and minorities). They are going to make a deliberate, concerted hire that will have to go through Leahy and the BOT. At no point, should BC rush this process. They are the only job open and even if kids go into the portal over the next 30 days, they can't go anywhere for quite a while.

It's so very BC to get high and mighty about being thorough in a search to give the candidate you should hire enough time to change his mind.

If you want him and he wants you, interview him and offer a contract.

Until the Thamel tweet dropped, I actually thought this might happen.

What exactly does the phrase …”two ROUNDS of interviews…” mean?

2 candidates with one interviewed Tues. and one candidate subsequently, or multiple candidates all to be interviewed twice beginning Tuesday??

BOB presumably has near term responsibilities at OSU and is likely facing some time pressure as the new OC (until that changes).. or do you thing FHCRD is playing nice because he has a soft spot for BC?

There have been way too many lies being spread about O'Brien and the BC job so let's clear some things up.......BC absolutely contacted O'Brien and he told them he wasn't interested. There have been so many erroneous stories out there about his interest in the job and that's 100% garbage. The usual idiots went from saying that it wasn't happening one day to Bill was cleaning out his office the next day and that is 100% manufactured garbage. BC is relentlessly pursuing O'Brien and he turned them down. O'Brien could have had that job last week if he wanted it. Stop listening to Kirky bc the guy makes up ***** on the fly.

Probably just wishful thinking- but then could these be two rounds for one person? (i.e. BO'B) formal one with Blake James (who iun this case would have spoken at length with BO'B before) and whoever else needs to be in the loop (trustee? donors?) and then the sign off one with Fr. Leahy?

Let's take a moment to memorialize... BC has interest from excellent coaches. BOB and CHIP are elite. Candle, Monken, Calhoun, Chryst are considerations for almost any Power 4 shop. Bottom line: the job is highly valued. This says a lot because the BOT and Pres has conspired to make the gig anything but. It shows the durability of the brand, history and what BC represents.

That said, in this time of supreme volatility, a poor hire can have permanent ramifications. I would bet my life that the BOT and Leahy would prefer someone like Washington with a $2.5mm salary. The thought would be that, they are hedged should the ACC fall apart over the next 3 years and the school's TV deal is whatever AAC gets. It will likely take someone like Fish or New Balance to point out that a major investment at this specific time is what is necessary... even if it comes with potential risk.

However, I will point out one potentially serendipitous factor... BC just kicked off their Soaring Higher campaign (shout-out to BJ Raji). It is way easier to ask for donations when the FB team is relevant. So, hiring someone that gives alums a modicum of pride, should provide an initial boost. And, if that hire becomes successful, it should be reflected in the campaign.

Bucknuts board says we are looking to pay 22 / 5 years

And rumor that Al Washington wasn’t a finalist. Heard between 5-6 guys were finalists, only BoB is the name I know 100% to be on that list.

I’d like to just acknowledge the favor Hafley did BC by mercy flushing himself out of the role saving BC an extreme amount of money and allowing us to monopolize the coaching market. Great self awareness to get yourself out of there before you are severed out next year. It is awfully reductive to call it his biggest impact on BC since he got the job, but it probably is

I don't see how Hafley didn't take a six figure paycut to save his reputation though; Vic Fangio being highest paid NFL DC at 4.5mil, Hafley making ~3.3mil as BCHFC, I doubt he cracked 3

This list just makes me sad/mad that Bates hired The Dazzler.

Seriously. That final four is better than anything any previous search came up with… since, I don’t know… maybe when Henning was hired and we were a hot job coming off of the Coughlin years. You can also throw-in known tertiary candidates of Chryst, Campbell, Fuller and Chip as better than all other previous finalists (and hires). It’s like… wtf were we doing all these years? I’ve always assumed it was Leahy. Maybe it was just the AD negotiating against himself.

Lou Holtz sent in his resume when we fired Henning.
