James Yoder @JamesTYoder

Michigan LB Coach Al Washington will accept a job with Michigan’s arch rival Ohio State.

While Jim Harbaugh is vacationing after a blowout bowl loss, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day just stole away one of Michigan’s best recruiters in his 1st day on the job.

Chess. Not checkers.

I wish we could get coaches like that.

I know Dazoo is terrible at everything... but, he has done a hell of a job bringing excellent assistants through the program.

Michigan folks saying al to osu isn’t 100 percent a done deal, but they are concerned that this might mean third down Donnie wants the temple job.

Could Temple pay 3rd Down Donnie more than Mich is paying him now? I would love to get him out of Mich, he is killing the Dazzler on the recruiting trail.

Wonder if there's a provision in Holgersen's contract saying he can be fired with cause for not reaching 10 wins. That seems to be the standard Houston has set for keeping your job. Not to mention blowing the G5 pay scale to smithereens in a blatant attempt to make themselves more attractive next time conference realignment happens.

There is always a cost of waiting. Doing nothing is a decision with implications of the same consequence as doing something.

I think he's got a bit of the Bud Foster problem where people think he is a goober and can't be the face of the a program whether it be for TV, recruits or donors. Supposedly one of the reasons he left Oklahoma years ago was Stoops was pushing all his other assistants to bigger jobs (his brothers, Leach, Wilson, Mangino, etc but not him).

Was Day on TOB's staff when we played Rutgers at home and there was that issue with The Patron and McGovern's wife (I think he tried to get her fired from the hotel or something like that)?

I think he is also the type that only wants to coach at a place that can land A+ recruits.

ATL is correct. I have spoken to a couple of boosters from a couple of schools who have looked at Venables (Miami and Texas Tech). Basically, he presents like a hayseed. Everyone agrees he is a defensive genius, but there are big questions about his ability to be the face of the program.

He was under serious consideration for the K State job, but apparently withdrew early in the process--my guess because of concerns about the program's ability to keep up in the ever increasing arms race that is college football, especially when KU gets the lions share of money and is apparently now willing to spend to obtain some level of respectability in football.

The current system is working pretty well for him. Dabo's salesmanship will guarantee he will continue to get a boat load of 5 star talent to work with and he will get a salary bump to over $2 million this year. I have heard from FSU supporters that if Taggert steps on his dick again this year they would go after him, as the Jimbo Fisher era inured them to a face of the program who presents like a character from Deliverance. That would probably be an ideal job fro him, as he would have the same talent pool and lack of barriers to bringing in anyone as he has at Clemson.

Jesuits don't care about Leahy's outbursts on the field. That's what confession is for.

All he needs to do is preach "faith", "character", "student athlete", etc. along with all the other BC talking points and get to a bowl game and he's safe. He's basically stumbled into a tenured position which is almost impossible these days considering the win at all costs mantra employed by the majority of schools out there.

Anyone who doesn't realize this hasn't been paying attention for the past 20+ years.
