i was hoping to see what jags was tweeting about these days but you need to be a follower or something to see them. that led me to finding this story from last summer about him, wondering why he can't land a job of any kind at a decent cfb program. story mentions skinner as well.

I agree with the article that it is whatever happened in Tampa that's holding him back. Good coaches get more chances, and he is a good coach

Didn't you mean to write that he was good at surrounding himself with good coaches? The one thing I liked about Jags is that he had balls. He wasnt conservative and he had good coaches around him attempting to execute. I'll take this 10 times out of 10 compared to Spaz and Daz, but I recognize Jags by himself wasnt much.

Yeah... Bruce Feldman isn't someone with connections to BC. He's been calling Daz's termination imminent for 2 years now (before Jarmond took the reigns).

Has an AD ever cleaned out all major coaches a year of being hired? With Jimmy Mac being terrible and York announcing his retirement (by giving up coaching years ago), I can’t see the only semi-successful coach this year being fired.

Semi-successful, what’s the point? You are either successful or not. MJ either has confidence in Daz to take this program to the next level or not. Either Daz is gone or he gets an extension. By gone it could be to another program versus BC having to fire him. Daz has to be looking for a 5 year deal at his age after 6 years at BC, especially if he wins tomorrow.

I think Jarmond should fire Addazio tomorrow afternoon and have BC re-hire Jeff Jagodzinski (if only he would give BC another chance.) This wont happen for a variety of reasons, but that is all I want for Christmas.

From talking with multiple industry sources today, expectation is that more Power 5 jobs could open than expected a few weeks ago. Two places to watch with teams losing right now: #TexasTech and #BostonCollege.

No way MJ brings back Daz.

Pete Carmichael could be a possibility. He is looking for a HC job and he would attract a good QB. He would also be the first alum to coach BC since Mike Holavak. It’s amazing that he played baseball at BC and is the OC of the NO Saints. His offenses are always rated in the top 5 in the NFL.

I may be wildly optimistic here but I'm going to choose to believe where there's smoke there's fire.

I think the presence of AJ Dillon on the roster might make some candidates who would otherwise turn us down at least think about it.

I can’t see anyway he comes back. His contract is through 2020 and as a guy who follows recruiting like I do it’s a male or break year. This is the year you either get extended or you get fired there isn’t another option here. You do neither the staff regardless of what they do will get eaten alive on the recruiting trail it’s that simple he’ll be a lame duck and other schools will use that. I can’t see any possible way he’s getting an extension so the only logical thing is he’s gone.

More speculation:

Boston College: The Eagles’ late-season collapse, combined with his contract situation, has put Steve Addazio’s job in jeopardy. Addazio’s last announced extension took him through 2020, which means he’s only got two years left on his deal (it's possible Boston College, a private school, quietly gave Addazio more years at some point. It was never announced, however.) That’s typically the point where a school decides to either extend again or make a change. Boston College rolled into Clemson at 7-2 but then lost three in a row, including to woeful Florida State to change the narrative of the season. Removing Addazio, who has made five bowl games in six years, could be risky for a program that doesn’t have many advantages in the ACC. But athletics director Martin Jarmond is young and ambitious and could see an opportunity to lure someone like Ohio State offensive coordinator Ryan Day.

I was in attendance and cheering for BC today. But I'll admit, a big part of me is okay with the Cuse victory so there is hope we can move on. I had complete apathy before and during the game today. Now I'm actually excited about the possibilities.

I would definitely support Ryan Day as the next coach.

The contract situation is the reason that I think he could be gone. I don't think it's tenable to extend Daz this year, so he has to leave or be a lame duck.

I guess, but he has a high ankle sprain and Addazio ran him 37 times last week. He ran him almost 30 times in the first half against Temple and Addazio's predictable play calling leads to gang tackling. That is more likely to lead to injury and have a negative impact on his future (paycheck) if he can't play at 100%.

He probably gets a ton of comments etc. there is no telling if he actually ready it before clicking like.
maybe he realized after clicking like, what he had "liked" and then deleted it.
it's dumb to draw conclusions for social media use.

Have to expect today or tomorrow is judgement day. If he's not fired by then and we wake up with Steve Addazio on Tuesday then you have to think he's going to be here another year.
You'd want a new head coach to coach the bowl game and be recruiting for the early signing period on 12/19. I guess you could wait maybe another week but the longer you wait, the more competition you will be facing from other programs.

EDIT. I did some quick research from the past two years and it seems most coaches are fired no later than the Monday after the last game.

Pete Carmichael always gets a mention as an alum, but he could probably get an NFL job at this point.

For MAC guys that might get interviews, Buffalo and Toledo are probably the leaders.

Coordinators I have no idea about beyond Day.
