I am reluctantly picking Clemson because I want to root for the ACC team. I don't think this game sets up well for them. Everybody is talking them up. Clemson players themselves are running their mouth. Alabama has been silent. Doing this to Saban is like when opponents trash talk Brady or Belicheck before a game. It never ends well. Would not surprise me if Bama's defense locks Clemson down. Still my pick is Clemson.

I've talked myself into Clemson, although I have absolutely no conviction in the pick. My rationale is that Saban, to the extent historically he has fucked up games, has done so against teams with superior quarterbacks. I also think Clemson has a good enough defense--and Hertz is terrible enough--that Alabama will not be able to freight train them if the Alabama defense clamps down.
