There is also one on 93 by exit 18 in Boston.

I got that very same email. I was actually embarrassed that things have come to this. It's really quite sad.

Why the fuck do they keep emailing me? I renewed both of my tickets months ago, and even replied to one of the repeated sales attempts with an email telling them I already renewed, and they confirmed this was the case. :bag

I've gotten 3 total that said essentially the same thing with a different enthusiastic name attached. The only way they stopped was by me sending a response that started with "This may come across as rude..."

I keep getting phone calls constantly on my voicemail. are other former ticket owners experiencing this as well? it's gotten so bad that I have resorted to not answering the phone whenever i see 617-552 on the caller ID.

That's a good practice anyway because if it's not the ticket office then some nerd is pumping you for money that you probably need way more than our alma mater.

No tickets yet for me either.

Just wait until they start making calls on Saturday while the staff is shucksing away the game.

I don't think they work on Saturdays, at least in the summers. I know this because I worked there one summer when I had the unenviable task of talking to you miserable fucks. Though, looking back on it, I probably would have enjoyed ranting off on Spaz with everyone on here. Sadly I did not care enough about my job to put much effort in.

It's already happened to me in the middle of a big hoops game. I documented it in a thread elsewhere. The kid said "oh, cool...are they winning?"

I'm generally pretty nice to these kids because it's not their fault.

I am holding out for Free tickets AND free parking on the lot of my choice. If I feel really greedy, I may ask for the State police escort into the parking lot. (I will not ask for the Eagle walk thru with the players as I prefer an audience)

Thanks to caller id, I never need to talk to anyone, not that I pick up my home phone anymore anyway.

I notice I give when I feel good about the program, the Ryan/Jags years, the Herzy story. I would give to Hockey but it just supports the Aw Shucksiness of the rest of the programs.

again, BC needs a new Athletic Director. Gene has served a purpose and it is beyond time to move on.

How can Gene market BC football via his website to "new" customers at $80 for 4 tickets (including a hot dog), but these same tickets are "FREE" to season ticket holders-who have told him that they can not "give" these tickets away to fans. He has completely **** this thing up, and he needs to go work for John Henry, where he can greet people entering the bleachers.

BTW-I received a call from a BC ticket guy (nice guy) and I told him that I love BC football (maybe a bit of a stretch) but that I could not "give" away my "extra" ticket (i had 2 season tickets prior). The ticket rep, responded with "have you heard about our ticket exchange program". I said yes, but that I did not want to pay an extra $240 for a season ticket and then donate it to BC, who in turn adds a $10 (at least) fee for someone wants to buy a ticket to the NC State game.

Why would some guy (even an idiot) pay $40 plus $10 fee to BC thru their ticket exchange disaster program, when BC has established the "VALUE" of the ticket at $0 to BC season ticket holders??

I also do not want Gene to escape this disaster by claiming that Fenway Sports marketing "told" him to do these things. This is insanity at its core.

+1. I just snatched up 4 extra free tickets to Northwestern today, but as a season ticket holder, it saddens me greatly to see the football program seemingly going the way of Duke's. I'm not as concerned about how I paid $300 for 2 season tickets when I probably could have gotten 2 tickets to every game for under $100 on the street (I sort of view it as my donation to the school), but I imagine some of the other people who did are pretty pissed. The athletic office should have lowered season ticket prices from the get go. Everyone knew it was going to be this bad, and the constant slashing of prices and free giveaways is just embarassing at this point. Amateur hour in the BC Athletic office never stops. I wonder what would happen if Gene had to run a real business?

I feel kinda bad for this guy having to write this copy:

My name is Justin Williams and I am the Assistant Director of Outbound Ticket Sales for Boston College Athletics. I am emailing you to follow up on an exclusive offer from our Athletics Department. I have attempted to contact you a few times already but, unfortunately, haven’t been able to reach you, so I wanted to follow up with an email to ensure you received our special BC offer for Young Alumni.

Because you are a young alumnus, we are offering you the opportunity to purchase season tickets in lower endzone for only $150. We also will provide you with the ability to purchase a parking pass at a discount of 50%. We want you to come back to Alumni Stadium for football and enjoy all our campus has to offer at a tremendous discount. Please contact me at 617-552-0145 and I can provide you with all the details and sign you up for football season tickets. it's almost as if the athletics dept is running itself as if it was pre-1994... the internet has been invented, customers are more informed, pricing is extremely competitive on everything, etc. BC Athletics needs to recognize this and join the information age...

Season's first Groupon is up: http://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-boston-college-vs-northwestern?c=title&utm_content=all-deals_boston_all-deals_with_sl_4&date=20110825&division=boston&p=5&s=body&sid=10956840&utm_campaign=gl-boston-college-vs-northwestern

Here's the copy:

Like cliff diving or ferret ownership, football is an endeavor best watched from the sidelines. Witness acts of bodily bravery with today’s GrouponLive deal to a Boston College Eagles home football game at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill. Choose from the following options:

For the game against Northwestern on Saturday, September 3, at 12 p.m., choose from the following ticket options:

* For $10, you get one end-zone ticket (up to a $25 value).
* For $36, you get four end-zone tickets (up to a $100 value).

For the game against Duke on September 17, at 12:30 p.m., choose from the following ticket options:

* For $10, you get one end-zone ticket (up to a $25 value).
* For $36, you get four end-zone tickets (up to a $100 value).

The team that birthed the golden arms of Doug Flutie and Matt Ryan returns to the gridiron for another season of making legends and chasing the BCS bowl. Populated with brawny engineering majors, the nation’s best run defense plans to erect the same frontline ramparts that made the unit such a success in its 2010 campaign. Quarterback Chase Rettig refuses to let them do all the heavy lifting as the second-year sharpshooter sinks his talons into the ball and scans the field with eagle-eyed acumen. Rettig will have plenty of help on his side of the field, as senior running back Montel Harris returns to break the Atlantic Coast Conference records for all-time rushing yards and whimpers elicited from opposing safeties.

The 44,500-seat Alumni Stadium allows Boston College to reap the benefits of its illustrious history, as the ghosts of former squads invisibly join end-zone crowds to cheer on their torchbearers. Fans clad in maroon and gold can take in scenic views of the Boston skyline between downs or revel at the immediate beauty of the stadium’s brick-and-glass façade.

Tickets will be available for pickup at the Gate B box office as early as three hours before kickoff. Seating is first come, first served, with the first 3,000 tickets sold in the lower end zone and all remaining tickets in the upper end zone.

Seating is first come, first served, with the first 3,000 tickets sold in the lower end zone and all remaining tickets in the upper end zone.

this might be a good idea.

my most recent ladyfriend hates football but if she sees that you can save 15 dollars on 25 or 64 on 100, then she'd be interested. now you are talking in terms she understands: % off, groupon, gilt, rue la la, member websites, etc. anything that remotely resembles shopping or saving money while shopping and her ears perk up even for stuff she doesn't want/doesn't need/doesn't like.

campion {l Wrote}:I may have predicted once or twice that when BC inevitably became a middle of the pack team again that all of the yellow undershirts who spent the last 5 years wagging their fingers at other people for not being loud enough or not being in their seats when the yellow undershirts expected them there would be nowhere to be found.

So many fucking poseurs.

Tell me again about how you let the young alumni phone offers go straight to voicemail?

I never owned or wore a yellow shirt.... and, i don't doubt the dedication of the :whalepants. they go to every game to see their friends and watch the game regardless of the performance on the field because IMO i think a lot of them deepdown do not care how the team performs which I am fine with. the bottom line is people can do whatever they want to do as long as they don't infringe on what i want to do. i will admit though that when i was student i hated the fact that they didn't stand or cheer but then i got older and realized if people want to be :whalepants then let them be :whalepants. who am i to judge?

TobaccoRoadEagle {l Wrote}:lower end zone for $10. good for you :pickle and :spaz3

I think the 4-for-$36 is an even bigger indictment. $9/each for 4 seats together...

everyone {l Wrote}:I like to complain about BC not marketing the football program enough and simultaneously complain about BC marketing the football program too much.

The marginal cost of one butt in a seat is zero, so anything they collect above that is gravy (the American kind, not the EYE-tal kind).
