Eaglekeeper {l Wrote}:As long as they insist on 100% of funding coming from donations they will continue to fall further and further behind in athletic facilities, especially given that construction costs are at least double that of our ACC competition. They should be borrowing money at that these historically low interest rates and hanging onto the cash donations to build an endowment for athletics. If they want to cut the annual operating losses, sell some fucking tickets and stop sitting on overpriced garage parking spaces! One of them is apparently required for the EPA according to page 35.

twballgame9 {l Wrote}:The recent Bruins project appears to have had similar permitting that went smoothly. Much different neighborhood and connected with development run by a large local employer, rather than a fat cat institution of higher learning connected to the Catholic Church that pays no taxes and counts its gold coins.

except for the gold coins it spends on athlete's scholarships, of course

Eaglekeeper {l Wrote}:It's the same permit process depending on what you are building. There are many needless regulatory approvals that all developers have to go through. What concerns me is that BC is in violation of an existing agreement required to renovate and expand Alumni Stadium in 1993. Shea Field was designated as parking and BC will have to make up that parking elsewhere. The loss of the only open space on the campus is a real negative to this project. No reason the IPF cannot be built on the site of the Flynn Complex.
Eaglekeeper {l Wrote}:They also have other buildings planned for the Robsham lot and part of the Flynn Rec Plex. The rest of the area is really not for parking, but sidewalks and grass areas. In a few years it will cost $5,000 just to get a garage pass. They are definitely phasing out tailgating to a great extent. Hence why I keep stating the need to renovate Alumni Stadium and add club seats, etc. or move the big games to Gillette. There is zero consideration for tailgating and nominal consideration being given to football parking. It's not really a blame issue, but a space issue. BC's just has limited space options on campus to worry about tailgating for 7 days a year.

i think it's about time for you to suggest don brown as our new head football coach
BCSUPERFAN22 {l Wrote}:Worry about tailgating spots when these apparent additions finally happen, until then it is what it is. If they are simply going to add green space/sidewalks, who's to say they wont just park people right on that 7x per year. If the demand is still there, they will find a way to accommodate people, its much more plausible than moving to Gillette when BCs demographic cant even fill Alumni.

We should build a bullet train to Gillette with the money for the new stadium.
