Not that it has mattered thus far, but it kinda sucks that the Syracuse game was moved from the "rivalry" week game. The rest of the schedule is bad, as expected.

2 Friday games, super.

I guess we are not doing the rivalry week game with Syracuse anymore.

UConn is an appropriate way to close out this home slate and a fitting send off for Sarge if he bombs this year.

A competent coach really should get to 7 wins without breaking a sweat. That schedule is about as easy as a P5 one can get.

Really??? I mean the team won 2.5 games last year!! When National Championship winning AlaFuckingBama is playing Middle Tennessee State, University of Louisiana-Monroe and Charleston Southern, is it really that shocking the worst team in FBS similarly schedules no one?

Canes' first 3 games... Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Appalachia State.
The program most similar to ours (Wake) has the following OOC schedule: Tulane, Delaware, Indiana and Army

I will conceded that there are no long, extended stretches where we should get beat up week after week. Toughest parts will probably L'ville followed by a short week before heading to FSU. Playing the first three games away from Alumni could be tough too, but I am glad that tailgating won't be effectively over by the end of September again.

45 - 55% chance wins

GT
cuse
@wake

25 - 45% chance wins

@VT
@NC State

this gets me to ballpark: 5 or less if things go terribly, 6-8 most likely, 8+ highly unlikely

Re: 2016 Schedule Announced

When Schiano pulled this shit at Rutgers it worked because 1) his program had absolutely no expectations; and 2) they played in the corpse of the big east. He could actually dumb his schedule down to the point where at most he'd have three or four games or so that had any business being competitive.

Our fan base sucks donkey balls and deserves nothing, but it won't even begin to shown interest in a schedule like this unless they legitimately run off five or so in a row.

Because the acc is competitive, our most likely course is boring games in front of empty seats and a crappy record.

Mixed feelings here.

On the one hand, if it signals the ACC shifting the permanent rivalries as SU-Pitt and BC-Wake...this is awful. This would do nothing to dispel the notion that we don't fit well within the conference.

On the other hand, I've been to all BC/SU games since 2010, and putting it on Thanksgiving weekend really takes away from the atmosphere. Both schools' student populations consist of few locals, and certainly BC has few local non-alum fans. For people who were fans back during the Big East, there were memories to form a rivalry with SU. For my peers who really only know BC as an ACC team, there is no history to the rivalry that we've lived through. And if we only ever watch the rivalry develop on TV, that won't help.

Either way, Bates sucks.

I know someone who works in college football programming at ESPN. Bates has 0 control over these Friday Night games and the BC on Friday Night thing is here to stay. Great TV numbers and a national showcase for BC.

For convenience reasons it sucks, but how many other 3-9 teams have a minimum of 3 guaranteed national showcase games this year?

Syracuse was also required to host a Friday night conference game due to this agreement, here's how that played out:

2013: no one
2014: Louisville
2015: no one
2016: Louisville

What do you mean "required"? Is there some sort of deal that stipulates that BC most host a Friday night game every season?

unless something changed: http://www.dailyprogress.com/sports/new ... 8cc5c.html

Most notably, the network will televise three Friday night conference games each season. Boston College and Syracuse have agreed to host two of those on an annual basis.

Yes BC is on the hook to host 1 per year.

Now that ESPN has realized them playing a big time helps the ratings it will rotate between Clemson and FSU each year

He also said Syracuse and BC volunteered to host Friday night football games because there is less sensitivity to high school football in that part of the country.

WTF! This sucks! I hope we are getting something out of this horseshit.

Edit - so this was agreed to while Defallacio was the AD, figures.

No one at BC minds these Friday Night games. Sportscenter shows up, raises the national profile, etc.

it's also our only contribution to the conference that pays us the same amount as all the other teams in the conference. well, we contribute a friday night game and a free win to everyone we play against
