Justin Simmons is the highest rated player on my board that is playing in this game as he is a top three safety in the 2016 NFL Draft in my opinion. When I watched Simmons on tape, there wasn’t that one glaring weakness that I could find on him. He really does do everything well at the safety position and is exactly what NFL teams are looking for in a prototypical safety who can play either free or strong. He is the complete package as he is a sure tackler in open space, rangy player to get over the top and disrupt the pass, and a smart defensive back who takes excellent angles and puts himself in position to make plays on the ball. For a player that is 6’3, 210 lbs, he is very agile and fluid, which will appeal to many teams across the NFL landscape. This is a chance for Simmons to show out and solidify his case as a legitimate contender to be one of the first safeties taken in this draft. In fact, I will be there live to see how all of these prospects do in the game including Simmons.

Daniels certainly worked his way into getting drafted. The difference in his ability to cover in space between '14 & '15 was remarkable.

Simmons is also getting a lot of hype. I thought he was a solid safety (not good as a CB) but seems like he'll be a mid round pick as well

FWIW, NFL.com ranks them
Simmons - 5.36
Mehdi - 5.05
CW - 4.82
Daniels - 4.34 (this has to be one of the lowest rankings of all participants)

I think the biggest thing that helped Steven "Pythagoras" Daniels was taking a geometry class, because his angles to the ball carrier were awful his first couple of years

He also redistributed his weight. Noticeably faster this season

ESPN:
One point Kiper made was that with the eyes of many scouts who visited BC during the season on the run-thumping Daniels, it helped the 6-foot-6, 282-pound Abdesmad. “Tremendous size,” Kiper said of the Quebec native. “I saw three games, you’re kind of watching Daniels, but then you’re noticing this other guy. With his frame, he was getting into the backfield and wreaking havoc. I think he could sneak up on people a little bit and people will get more intrigued with him as we move through the process a bit.”

I watched pretty much every game, and think the exact opposite. He lost the burst that made him a marginal NFL prospect.

thought the same thing - wanted him to dominate but he just didn't (except for very early ACC Defensive Lineman of the week (weak?) vs. Maine).

I think he and the rest of the D-Line were very strong together all year -- but he did not seem as impactful as Landry, Gutapfel, Kavalec & Wujciak -- despite having NFL frame and better stats (15 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks) than the others.

Damn expensive move... swap of first rounders, 2 second rounders in 2016 and Rams' 2017 first rounder. I get it is a drop from 1 to 15... but seems like the Rams gave up a ton for what I assume is a FCS QB from North Dakota State.

3 safety sleeper prospects in the 2016 draft class

1. Justin Simmons, Boston College

You might expect Simmons to be on this list because of his five interceptions in 2015; however, he earned his spot for his work against the run rather than his play in coverage. While he did have the third-most interceptions among the 2015 safety class, most of those were easy picks that you would expect every safety to make. Furthermore, he struggled in man-coverage and tried to compensate for his speed by being grabby at times.

On the other hand, Simmons was very good against the run and is an excellent tackler. He might be the best at making tackles in this safety class, which is highlighted by the fact that he missed only five tackles last year while also recording 24 defensive stops. Simmons does not make many flashy plays, but he seems to have a high floor due to his disciplined tackling and tendency to choose correct angles.

I actually think his coverage skills are an asset. He's not Devin McCourty, but he covers just fine for an NFL safety.

Now I understand the Eagles' move. Trading away tons of picks for the chance to pick a franchise QB. Oh well, fingers crossed.

I understand it, but I don't think I like it.
