If we're going to schedule patsies like Richmond and Ohio in future years, why don't we play Tulane? We have a decent history (14 games) with them, it's very winnable with a modicum of coaching, and New Orleans is a destination people would want to visit.

It makes all the sense in the world. Pretty close academically and BC can finally build that wall around LA.

This was well done. You should be proud of this post.

I am not a fan of New Orleans. I don’t like the idea of being on the receiving end of the knockout game (this happened to a friend in the middle of the day).

As has been mentioned before, here is what you do with the four games:

1. P5/BYU
2. Military academy
3. UMass/UConn at Gillette or Fenway (essentially another home game)
4. FCS

Fair enough on N.O. Yes to a P5/BYU, and yes to a military academy (especially Army), yes to UMass 2/1, no to UConn. If it’s not a local 1-AA team, I’d rather play another interesting P5 (not Purdue). We’re not winning a national championship, so focus on winning the ACC, and find good OOC opponents.

BC played a bowl game in Detroit and people are worried about the knockout game outside Brennans because of anecdotal evidence?

Aside from that, I'm just not a fan of the city. But feel free to go and knock yourself out.

I understand not liking it. It was the articulated "why" I was commenting upon.

The shit is dirty. And Bourbon St. is like Faneuil Hall, Las Vegas and Baltimore all mixed together. Not my scene.

Plus, Quincy Market only sucks if you are a native.

Headed to New Orleans in a few months. Going to try to hit all of the place Militant hates.

Bourbon Street is filthy but fun and the rest of the New Orleans you actually want to go to, Magazine Street for instance, is relatively clean and amazing.

This. In fact, Bourbon Street is what makes New Orleans amazing. Not because Bourbon Street is amazing (it's definitely not), but it does a fantastic job of sucking in all the crappy Trump America tourists so that the rest of us can enjoy great food, great cocktails and live music that exists everywhere other than on Bourbon Street.

Since 2018 optimism seems to be in season these days, I'll just leave this here...

2018 Schedule:
9/1 - UMass
9/8 - Holy Cross
9/22- @ Purdue
9/29 - Temple
ACC Home: Clemson, Louisville, Syracuse, Miami
ACC Road: FSU, NCST, Wake, VT

I'd expect the ACC to protect Miami or Clemson from a cold weather game in Boston. Would expect one of them to be the 9/15 game. Otherwise, it's a favorable OOC schedule and nice having the cupcakes early to iron out the kinks before the heart of the ACC schedule.

6-6?
If you sweep the OOC slate (only 1 real game)
Lose to Clemson and Miami, split the other 2 at hom.
Beat Wake.
Steal one more for 7-5?

Yes. Coldest BC game to which I've ever been. Miami's whole team quit as hard that day as any team has ever quit in the history of quitting

That was absolutely freezing. Miami spent all game huddled around the heaters.

6 wins = minimal expectation for Daz to stay.
7 wins = solid but unremarkable.
8 wins = satisfied fan base.
9 wins = impressive (winning 2/5 against FSU, Clemson, Louisville, VT and Miami)
10 wins = dream scenario

It's also just a pretty decent home slate for season tickets.

There was a night game at home vs VTech in the past decade when Herbstreit went nuts on the VT players that was pretty bad too.

That was 2006 and he went off on the kid for dancing while losing, not because the team quit. BC took a shit on that team.
