Rutgers hasn't beaten us in 25 years. Which is amusing, amongst other reasons, because for the majority of that time we were playing annually

Why not? Teams that have visited Alumni that are too cheap to fly their own cheer squad to the game have "borrowed" Newton North cheerleaders before, just gave them different uniforms to wear.

It's Kansas.

2019 @ BC

2020 @ KU

This would be great for bball but just awful for football. This is supposed to bring in more season ticket holders?

FWIW, we already are @ND in 2019 and host Purdue in 2020, so this is a second P5 game each year. Still incredibly boring but at least we're not pretending this is the marquee game each year.

Am I disappointed? Yes. But the whole point of being in a conference is that your marquee games are those matchups. Maybe 1 outside of it. (Admittedly, there's weirdness because ND is half in the conference half out.)

Blame BC for not getting the fan base more excited about FSU/Clemson/VaTech or somehow creating something out of NC State/Wake. Trying to combat an eroding fan base through OOC scheduling strikes me as foolhardy unless you want to go BYU's route.

Not to bring up the conference realignment nonsense, but this is why if there ever comes an opportunity to move to the BigTen, BC should take it. The harsh reality is that those teams are more interesting to our fanbase.

Master Post Updated to Reflect Kansas Home-and-Home in 2019 and 2020.

This is actually 3 (THREE) P5 opponents in 2019. There should be zero complaints here. We are now clearly aiming for at least 2 P5's per year and willing to schedule even more. Anyone complaining should remember that we played Buffalo, UMass, UConn and Wagner this year. This is a philosophy change, even if it's just Rutgers and Kansas.

My feeling about scheduling Rutgers was that the optics of scheduling a P5 team, even one that stinks now, is a good thing because perception absolutely matters in college football and it's a way of appearing better to people who aren't paying close attention (meaning: most people). But scheduling Kansas and announcing it back to back is going to get attention in a bad way. Baylor spent the last few years getting ripped apart for their schedule - I don't want BC to end up in the same spot and get extra scrutiny for it.

other than that, eh

Season ticket offerings for the next few years:

2017: Notre Dame, FSU, VT, NCST, Wake, Central Michigan - Only 6 games, but the administration is clearly hoping 7 wins this year plus Notre Dame turns sales around.
2018: Clemson, Louisville, Syracuse, Miami, UMass, Temple, Holy Cross - This is a great home slate. Great. Sure, the last three games are largely for whalepants, but Miami in cross-over is huge.
2019: FSU, VT, Kansas, NCST, Wake, Richmond - This is bad. With ND and Rutgers on the road, Kansas at home is better than nothing, but this is still very unappealing. Not one Lambert-Meadowlands team on the slate. All southern...
2020: Clemson, Louisville, Syracuse, UNC, Purdue, Ohio, Holy Cross - Not bad at all.
2021: FSU, VT, Missouri, NCST, Wake, TBD - Most likely a home G5 or FCS to fill out this slate. Blah.
2022: Clemson, Louisville, Syracuse, Duke, Rutgers, UConn, UMass - FOUR Lambert-Meadowlands opponents on the home slate! And Clemson and Louisville. Another good one.

Honestly, that's not bad overall. Some really good years in there. And even the worst of those (2019? or 2021?) is still better than 2015 and 2016.

Try to think of these years as the rebuilding years. Everything is winnable. It leads into the marquee series against Ohio State and Stanford...

Baylor got ripped apart because some people still think they can be playing for a playoff spot. Nobody is going to criticize BC's strength of schedule in 2019 or 2020. If you're complaining, would you rather have two FCS opponents?

I think it was Gene who said one of his primary missions (when he was hired in 1997) was to never again allow BC to get stuck in OOC football contracts that would subject the team to the kind of "murderers row schedule" that he witnessed with the 1995 season. Of course, the only similarity Rutgers has with Ohio State is that they play in the same division. I'm looking at 2019, and if BC can't handle those OOC power-5 teams, oh how the mighty have fallen....

It is interesting to look at the complete future schedule and realize that we'll be hiring a new AD very soon and he'll inherit a schedule without a single opening until 2021 (likely FCS) and no real openings to leave a mark for almost a decade...

Scheduling Kansas, Mizzou, Purdue and Northern Illinois on the road make 0 sense. We don't recruit these areas at all

With all the rumors of Bates being out at some point in the near future, I originally thought there was very little he could do to have long term effect on the program based on his early actions. Its a shame he finally decided to (technically) do his job now that he is basically dead man walking to screw us all 5-10 years down the road and leave a shitty legacy.

Tranny Bars? Let's see...you've got Dicksy Chicks, that's on 3rd. Then there's Rock Chalk Girlcock, that's on 3rd too. There's Carry on Our Gayward Son. Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the tranny district on 3rd.
